As we all know, Illal has been under a strict quarantine for the last six years, due to the ever continuing spread of the infamous Hawken virus.
But, how do you quarantine an entire planet?
Well that's not a problem if you are the UTA (United Terran Authority)
When Illal was first colonized Magellon Aerospace, one of the nine MPC's to fund the Illal Development Initiative, built a large space station / factory in geosynchronous orbit over Illal.
It is known as Gateway Station. The station is six and a half Kilometres wide, (roughly four miles) and has a crew of one hundred thousand.
For many years the station served as a hub for people who were coming and going from Illal, but then the Hawken virus broke out.
The UTA needed an orbital base from which to impose and manage the quarantine. They chose Gateway Station for this purpose.
Naturally, it didn't come cheap. Magellon allows the UTA to use sections of it's station for a price. Many secret deals were done to ensure it's use.
Now, the UTA has stationed over a thousand personnel on there and it is home to fifty UTA fighter carriers. These carrier ships continuously patrol Illal, monitoring any transports that fly in the atmosphere. If a vehicle fly's to high, they receive a warning. If they continue, UTA Scorpion Interceptors are launched and the vehicle trying to leave is brought down in any way necessary.
Below, you can see Gateway station. A Tiberius class Fighter Carrier is moored at the bottom right of the station, while three Scorpion Interceptors return from a mission.
Below, a pair of Tiberius class carriers rendezvous in low orbit. Each of these ships carry a complement of 64 Magellon Aerospace Scorpion Interceptors, (8 squadrons).
Below, a squadron of Scorpions are scrambled after a transport has been spotted trying to leave Illal.
Below, the interceptors engage the transport and shoot it down. Later, it was discovered that there where one hundred men, women and children on board the transport. There where no survivors.
