As a U.S. service member, I receive a constant stream of empty hearted 'thank you's', and often find that they don't really know why they thank me. Anzac day is possible the most inspiring holiday I've ever heard of, and to have it proclaimed as the most important national holiday, even if only as a gesture, is a very good feeling too say the least.
Today, specifically, I'd like to thank the Anzacs for their service in both World Wars, the Vietnam war, and every other skimersh that our allies have fought along side us, and on their own since.
I know without a doubt we would have never made it through so many wars without the unresolving determination of our New Zealand and Australian allies.
This video does a good job summarizing the holiday for those of us that don't celebrate it.
