Not very important but I'd like to mention these ideas on the Item - Hologram : Is it anyway to destroy it faster once you discovered "the trick"?

 

for example once you reach its location and stamp your foot over it, or you repeteadly jump over it, or something else but mainly when you're close to it or at close range and the holo trick isn't going to play you anymore....

 

Note ::: Maybe the same functionality might be interesting for holotaunts too... or maybe not....  What do you think about this little aspect of the game about holograms and holotaunts?

I agree on holotaunts due that these expire after a little amount of time... but would not be so bad idea to have any way to... nvm..... on holograms then only....

holograms are invincible and, as far as i can tell, last until the user dies.

i actually suggested in my thread to have a destructible drone at the center and have the drone (thus, the hologram) walk around, like an A.I. (it wouldn't attack, obviously). I don't really see the use of the current holograms that stand still all the time, because players generally shouldn't do that.

Maybe stand on it and hold "E" to disrupt the signal and destroy it. 5 secs of holding.

you would think people won't fall for holograms but they do. Top players and lowbies alike. Although top players don't shoot for nearly as long at one once you shoot it once it has done its job. If you're close enough they're on your radar now. most of all it can be demoralizing. The trick to the hologram is to place it with the intention of fooling somebody within the next 20 seconds. If you start fighting your hologram with flip out like somebody on an exorcist movie and will be passed up by enemies. It's not like the scanner where you put it down and forget about all your troubles: it's an item of very specific strategic value that takes consideration when using.

 

I'm pretty sure an emp takes away a hologram as I see people do it to mine often enough. could use confirmation on this

No, it stays visible, which is better, you can run around a corner drop a holo, and cloak and get away clean.

how about accidentaly contacting one will make it glitch out for a moment and have some sort of negative ecm effect on you

Probably hologram items don't have friendly/enemy tag.

 

a) If is so then by adding that tag plus some of code to identify when an enemy mech is *walking/*running? or *jumping (twice?)... over an (enemy)holo could be cool and probably the right way to get it destroyed (too).

 

b) Additionally, I personally think that holos tend to be too tought on the battlefield. Once you discover the trick will take you too much time to remove it via direct fire on it.

 

So, one brute way to destroy holos by close range collision of an enemy (hitbox?) ove 'em plus decreasing the holo's "health" by a 35% would be an interesting approach to improve (the related) gameplay a bit more.
