Since some time i have had this problem: the game starts without problems the moment it has finished preparing, the window closes itself but the sounds are still there. Any attempts to open the window fail since it just collapses itself

Gmae window doesnt stay

Do you have some other programs/apps that force themselves into the foreground?

Try running it in compatibility mode. ..../steamapps/common/hawken/win32shipping (application) right click and go to properties, compatibility mode, and check the box. That's from memory so the path might be a little different.
Other than that, reinstall video drivers or roll them back. No other real suggestions, but best of luck.

i hope this doesn't sound stupid but does your hardware meet Hawken minimum requirements?
CPU: 2GHz Dual Core
Memory: 3GB RAM
Graphics Card: 512MB Graphics Card supporting Direct X 9.0c and Shader Model 3.0 (example: nVidia 9800 GTX or AMD HD 5670)
Operating System: Windows XP or higher
Hard Drive: 5GB of free space
Internet Connection: Broadband
CPU: 3GHz Dual Core
Memory: 4GB RAM
Graphics Card: 1024MB Graphics Card supporting Direct X 9.0c and Shader Model 3.0 (example: nVidia GTX 460/ AMD HD 6850)
Operating System: Windows XP/Windows Vista/Windows 7 64bit Hard Drive: 5GB of free space
Internet Connection: Broadband
also, a monitor that supports 720p or 1280x720 hdtv display or better is highly advisable.

i have tried everything with out a change.
The game launches and simply doesnt stay open.
i had a look at the log, there was one line which fell out:
[0: 020.372] Warning: Warning, Failed to load 'ApexDestructibleDamageParameters UDK_APEXDamageMap.UDKDamageMap': Failed to find object 'ApexDestructibleDamageParameters UDK_APEXDamageMap.UDKDamageMap'
Does this help ?

Just curious .. Are you running the game in Steam?

Hey, let's try this possible solution:
Go to your ...\My Games\Hawken\HawkenGame\Config folder
Open the HawkenSystemSettings.ini file
Go to the end of the [SystemSettings] section and check if the following line is Borderless=False
If the value is True then Edit it to False and save the file.
Also,
check the BackupDefaultSystemSettings.ini which is located into the same folder and do follow the same procedure if required (in case the forementioned value isn't False).
Try running the game after doing this and tell me if it properly works or not now.
Good luck ;)

Anybody find a fix for this yet?
