I know the devs desperately need ways to bring people to the game, but that's not any good, at all.
Those promoted streamers are unfortunately very bad in the game, maybe just cause they're very new, but that's what people are seeing. They're seeing a terrible gameplay that probably very few people will like.
If there's a way to get those streamers hooked with some good players / known community members that will be much much better.

The PC community is the red headed step child Reloaded never wanted but got saddled with when they married the PC community's mother.
I don't think so. That's like advertisement. You present the public something (only positive aspects ofcourse) to let them realize that it also has negative parts in the end, negating the positive parts.
Showing gameplay from new players shows the experience players will have upon registering and playing for the first time. But showing veteran skills and gameplay will be a quite different experience new players don't have access to (for obvious reasons) resulting in frustration and disappointment like "It looked so good in the trailer, why is the actual gameplay so fcked up?".

You know what really draws people in? Demonstrations of bad gameplay. If trailers showed how the game plays at the learning stages, everybody would think that's all the game has to offer. You need to give viewers something to look forward to so they play long enough to get to the "cool" content. The image you used isn't even relevant since it's demonstrating the difference in graphical expectations, not gameplay.

The streamers currently publicising the game were not chosen because of their Hawken (or FPS) gaming skills, they were chosen because of their sizeable community. If you take a look at the streamers that are actually good at Hawken, their number of followers are laughable compared to the streamers in question. I also don't think the viewers of the streamers in question really care about if the game play is good or not, they just want to watch the streamer play whatever game, if some of them get interested to play whatever the streamer plays, then the publicising actually worked.
The goal is to get new players exposed and to play Hawken, it is working, you cannot deny that. Is it the best currently? Yes, because the players that are actually good at Hawken are not partnered with Twitch, and don't have a very sizeable community themselves. And even worse if they do have a sizeable community its not from Hawken, its from some other game, and when the streamer goes to play Hawken, most of those viewers that are there for their other game, don't watch. This happens in all streams when a streamer changes games. Someone only streaming Hawken exclusively has a very difficult time gaining followers and finding new viewers, most of the time its the same old hardcore Hawken fans watching.

But if you are smart enough, imagine, you can use that image for the same example! Magic!
However, good gameplay or bad gameplay of players. This is not everything and only a tiny bit of the actual game. Sound, graphic, balance and stuff like that is also presented in the streams which are static and not influenced by good or bad gamepaly. In the end, the playstyle of individual streamers have a minor influence on the advertisement of Hawken so once again the importance is low.
In addition, how are non-Hawken players supposed to differ good from bad gamepaly? I don't think they are able to, nor that they even care.
