i just saw a hawKen gameplay video and saw some really cool effects that i dont enjoy. i run the 32 bit version but i can run the 64 with dx 10 how do i swap over? do i need to uninstall and reinstall because i have oldschool DSL and dowloads take a long time and tie up my line so nobody else can use it. is there just an additional exe file that i can click somewhere like i have seen in other games. this steam thing is a mystery to me. i dont know how it works.

You'll have to wait until an official 64-bit build comes out from the developers. They have been supposedly working on such a client. No guarantee on the API upgrade though, as that would likely require resources the devs don't currently have.

If they do manage to rewrite the code base into a new API, either Direct3D 11 or 12 should be chosen.

What effects are you referring to? If you're talking about the particle effects on health orbs and such, that's from NVidia PhysX and is only available if you have an NVidia graphics card. As far as I know DX version and 32/64-bit is irrelevant to it.

and dont forget all the middleware built into unreal engine 3 that would also need to update theirs first, such an issue prevented a great "webdisplays" mod adding ingame web browsers in minecraft.  once 64bit was required to support more ram required for the massive modpacks we eventualy had to leave it behind but chromium saved us in the end with their version of the tech anyway

ps 32bit is all we need in hawken its just a fps which are usualy low ram which requires latency over capacity and raising 32 to 64 increases overhead from using the larger addresses, every value in memory would now be bloating up in ram use for no reason

That fantasy would be that they launched it in Unreal 4 with Directx 12 *O* Although, dreaming is free  :wallbash:

the effect i refer to is a swirl of sparks. i think when a mech is distroyed but i dont remember for sure what caused the sparks. i do have a reasonably new nvidia card. how do you activate physx effects?

edit: never mind. i had all my graphics settings set to low. i will turn them up for more bling. my last computer was weak and i had to crank the graphics way down to play games like this. old habits die hard.
