Joystick - "spinning" fix

Hi All,

 

I just started this game and I am having some issues with using my joystick, I am using a Thrustmaster T-16000M PC Joystick on Win 7/64 (the joystick is working fine with other games). I am in the intro/training mission and as the mission starts I automatically start “spinning” in place even when I am not touching the controls. Unplugging stops the spinning and plugging the joystick back in restarts the spinning.

 

I looked at this: https://community.pl...-one-direction/ and went to my installation at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hawken\HawkenGame\Config but I do not have a “"HawkenInput.ini” file. I did find a “DefaultInput” file but the contents do not have the “LookRightScale = 1.000000 LookUpScale = -1.000000”

 

I also started using a program called Joytokey, that also has the same issue with this game (again I am fine on other games). Is there a joystick “deadzone” to calibrate in Hawken or joytokey? Or maybe something to edit to remove joystick support in Hawken and then after I can switch to Joytokey?

so are you trying to use your joystick in hawken as a controller or are you using joytokey to just make it work as keystrokes?

I use a joystick with its manufacturer software to convert axis to keystrokes and it work fine, except when I open teamspeak I get the issue of constant yaw input.

I just have to play with out teamspeak and I'm ok. never did manage to get that solved.

I looked at this: https://community.pl...-one-direction/ and went to my installation at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hawken\HawkenGame\Config but I do not have a “"HawkenInput.ini” file. I did find a “DefaultInput” file but the contents do not have the “LookRightScale = 1.000000 LookUpScale = -1.000000”

 

 

Might want to take a CLOSER look at those instructions on the page you linked.

 

The path you looked at is wrong.

 

The path you listed is for the scripts that build the ini's.  You can notice this because of the - and + characters at the beginning of the lines, a normal ini doesn't have those chars.

 

If you can't find the correct file/location, open a command prompt and do a "dir /s HawkenInput.ini" (if that doesn't find it do a "cd /" and then rerun the search) or take a look at the instructions on how to fix launch problems, it lists some paths for the correct inis for a few of the different operating systems there are.

 

Then once you locate and edit the correct ini files and it solves your spinning problem, run a steam file verification on Hawken and let it redownload all the files you shouldn't of edited, just incase later on down the road you have to reset your ini's.
