The intro video of the game looks so good  I wish they would make the movie.

mechs, rockets, guns, avatars....

 

Avatar beat Hawken to the mech "punch".  it was essentially bought by a studio that had big dreams and not much to show for them. the series was thus buried along with the rights.

re-reading this 5 years later: http://www.ign.com/a...tion-web-series  is a real gut wrencher, if you recognize/remember the names and what eventually started happening.  there was approximately 24 million USD squandered before the end.

if not, let google be your friend.  it's a really sickening ride.

 

hawken started falling apart a long time before RLD or 505 came along.

A ridiculous amount of money was thrown in that pit. The game could have been great with some of that backing, but venture capitalists probably broke it by selling the cross-media aspect more than was warranted.

i'd say they were on the right track when they did ascension, dumped the tree and the customizable build *30 ways to screw up a mech*.  i think the pre-asc art and sound were better, and the ttk speed-ups around the wreckage, etc. patches was screwed.

there was something spectacular about a eoc-rocketeer with a pocket tech ripping an enemy team to shreds, vaporizing 1800hp from a brawler, having to wait for a slot to open on a match (for maybe a half hour--that crowded), where everyone on both teams was rekt on something.

i'm sure a load of vet ex-players would generally concur that various areas from the CB up to last eco were, indeed, the golden times of hawken.

Ascension was an okay update. I enjoyed the introduction of the air compressor a lot! Siege was the go to game mode back when. My favorite point in the game was right around the introduction of the Technician. I mained the tech for a while well into Ascension. Had a lot of fun. Scout has always been my lil baby.

Alright. I remember playing this game on floppy disc back in the 90s. Here is the most awesome game trailer ever period. holler at yer boy if you remember this one, or played that game Zone 66 with the little bomber plane XD
