Soooooo... its basically the same issue described in this thread: http://steamcommunit...52449549662021/

Crackling + Popping + Low Audio Level

Even before I found the thread, I was thinking that it sounded very similar to a loose audio connection. I am running Tiamat 7.1 headphones and the problem seems to be intermittent and on all channels simultaneously. (All channels simultaneously makes me think its not a "loose connection".)

And if I am using both at the same time (which we all do) TeamChat will sound fine and loud with Hawken going quite and crackling away.

Often this crackling can start up as early as the battle scene before the NVIDIA/Meteor/Adhesive logos on start up. Other times it waits till later when I am playing. Sometimes it stays even if I restart the game, other times it goes away magically when playing.

I am 99% certain that its not the audio device since I *JUST* replaced my ASUS p8m67 mobo with ASUS z97 yesterday and experienced the crackling on both boards. (Both using the onboard 7.1 RealTek). The remaining 1% is that it might be a conflict with the Soundblaster card I just installed before realizing that Soundblaster has one *less* output than the Tiamat needs. (Gonna rule that out today).

Anyone else having this problem currently? If you have, any tricks on making it go away?

I have also opened a support ticket so I'll be sure to update this thread if the Reloaded team can't.

Can you try switching the samplerate of your soundcard to 48 kHz? Or tweaking that?

You can do that by right clicking on the speaker in the taskbar, then "playback devices", right clicking on your name's device, then properties, then the advanced tab, then the default format sliding menu.

I'll give it a go and report back this evening.

Ok... it was already at 24 bit 48 kHz so I bumped it up to 24 bit 192 kHz and I'll let you know what happens.

Another datapoint is that I was asking around in Team Chat and at least one other person there had similar experience. Only difference is that he experienced an FPS drop accompanying the audio problems that I hadn't noticed. If/When it happens again I'll pay closer attention to see if I get any frame rate drops.

Dunno if it's the same issue, but i edited some ini files to skip intros and then, randomly, the sound crackled and died.

I restored the files and no mo' prob.

Thanks for the suggestion, someone else in Team Speak said something similar. I have not tweaked with any conf/ini files to date so I think we can rule that out.

It may be a performance issue as well (even if don't notice frames drop).

Try to play with all effects disabled in custom settings, and if the test is concluding, re-enable them one by one until the problem occurs.

Yeah so if you use teamspeak with Hawken and, for exemple, TS is set to 44,1 kHz and Hawken set to 48 kHz, it can lead to conflict. Bad samplerate "conversion" on the fly can lead to choppy sound. There's also an option in windows soundcard control panel with a case to cross. "Allow program to take exclusive control of soundcard" or something like that. Might be worth tweaking that too. And there's an option in TS or Mumble as well to set the samplerate.
