Hey come on Meteor , why you only give Assault Mech  , some of us not that lucky  to have the Vanguard Initiative to purchase Mechs, at least give us another Mech to choose from… Mean to  say , do i have to ruff it out with the heavy guns and out class me mechs , what chances have we got to make enough in game credits and at what rate to even start saving to purchase a decent mech….leave alone the experience… There goes happy huntng out of the window for me..

Well at least give us a mech to choose from our garage now and wipe our level to zero , truly I don’t want to be seen in a Assault mech up against a far better class mech

As was said, you either play for new mechs or pay for new mechs. Assault is pretty well-rounded now.

I, for one, look at buying things like the VI as supporting the devs, and the extra merch/MP are simply bonuses.

Assault mech is great. It seems to be particularly efficient in all A-class matchup.

Since when is any class of mech "far better" than others_ They all have their strengths that you have to adjust to, is all (granted, some can be a bit more effective than others at the moment, but still). And as has been stated, the Assault is a pretty nice all-around package.

Everyone has to start somewhere. The Assault is also a decent all-rounder. It's the Mario of the Closed Beta mech selection.

Would you call up id Software and ask that instead of starting DOOM with the pistol, you could start with the shotgun_

Yep, the Assault mech is a more than decent starting point for this upcoming OB1. No matter if I'm an Scout pilot or not, I honestly think that it is.

All jokes aside I basically agree.

I feel there should be a choice in which mech you can start with besides giving you a default.
(basically a choice of an A, B, or C class mech)

Actually that's the only thing I did during CBE3 (level 18 Bruiser and level 12 Rocketeer on which I never, ever touched the Seeker except when I forgot to switch), and in team situations was able to rack up pretty decent scores with them. Not so much 1v1, but still, I quite often ended up as one of the top 3 scorers in the match.

But I don't have experience in high-level clan matches, so it may be a lot different in those situations.

.... I started with SS and then Bruiser second before going back to Assault.  Got all three of them to lvl 15 before the beta ended.

Shaprie was actually the most fun, once they fixed, unfixed, and then refixed the Slug rifle.
