180 quick-turn is the best thing that's happened to me in a video game for a long time.

It's definitely useful but now that you can turn so much faster, I've found myself trying to 180 and accidentally doing a side dodge that looks like a back dodge because I've turned to face the spot I dodged from so fast.

A backward dodge would be really cool but not entirely necessary.

To be fair, I haven't played too much since I noticed the login/crash/disconnection issues post-patch, so I'm not sure how that particular functionality was affected.

I agree with Disrupted. I was the same.

I use it sometimes...
But I would prefer a back dash if I boosted in revers rather than the turn. Though that will be just unrealistic and would suck.

Please Kind Sir, do not use the word unrealistic.

I find that keeping up with other mechs in my C-Class requires me to use all the movement shortcuts I can find

I also use a controller. Try to play like a shark per se; move forward most of the time, avoiding back movement unless you want to execute a 180.

now if you where to remap the button and let us back peddle even with out a boost jump would be much appreciated, Due to the fact that my left hand is incapable of ever moving like it should after being in the military. although i still try but with no success.

You need to play more video games this is not a new feature actual it was in left 4 dead 2007 and many games did this before as well.

It's the best in terms of getting out of a sticky situation. Since I use an Infiltrator, the heavier mechs are ridiculous and it's incredibly helpful to just spin around and burst out of the way.

Why is this even a discussion_ anyone that finds it annoying or keeps accidentally doing it has chubby fingers.

be a boss and chain together a bunch of 180's and side doges and you can move your mech out of trouble in the most efficient - unpredictable - and angular fashion ! and I genuinely do this quite a lot.

180 turn is great, but it can get you killed if you hit it by mistake.  It should be decoupled with the S key and made into its own key assignment.  That way you'll be able to boost run in reverse and do a 180 ON PURPOSE.

I've never quite gotten use to it. Every time I've used it in the heat of battle, I lose my sense of direction, my focus is thrown off, and by the time I get my bearings I'm either too low on HP to continue fighting or I die.

Now imagine an air 180º turn. Double-tapping (boost) when you're midair.. Imagine it..

Turning around might be slower, but at least it's realistic. Insta180 is a fuzzy bunny control that should have no place in this game. Doesn't matter if it saves your arse, it should not be there.
We have limited fuel capacity, limited turning and forward speed but hey here's an instant 180 turn... My bunny!

By how it sounds i imagined 180 turn working like this:

boosters turn torso and waist is unlocked, that gives a 180 turn.

besides you have to have some creative licenses to make a game fun to play/balanced

I find it is great for baiting people into chasing you while you are in a c-class or slower mech. Then, they come around the corner thinking its cool and easy to get a shot off. And bam. Also, I remember watching a vid that said if you 180 before your heal, you mech drops down to heal slightly faster b/c it aligns your mech's upper and lower body(meaning that part of healing is already done). I can't remember the vid or post I heard that from and it could just be a placebo effect. I would like this myth confirmed or busted if anybody happens to know if it is true.

I personally love the 180 degree turn, especially when playing Scout, because I can just flip around and dash away when I'm in a bad situation. Saved my life so many times.
