I've played Ib before.

What I hate about a lot of puzzle/horror games is that after a while on a puzzle it stops being scary and just starts getting annoying. The worst part is that it's generally not even the puzzles that get you, but not knowing where the next one is.

That's just a general gripe about the genre though, the game itself is pretty good.

Honestly I just think puzzles work better in an action/adventure setting than in a horror one.

Horror games just are so reliant upon atmosphere that getting stuck on a puzzle can just completely ruin the mood. Action adventure games can make the timing and retrying of puzzles add to the immersion instead of detract from it.

Dishonored and bethesda can fuck off for all that I care.....
Dishonored for all intents and purposes looks like a mix between Bioshock and Assassins Creed. How can that look bad_

I'm personally looking forward to it, my only worry is that Bethesda physics will get in the way. I'll not buy it till after a good number of reviews have gone over it, but I'll definitely be keeping an eye out.

Bugs can be super fun, it just depends on how the bugs emerge. The horrible flailing bodies when you close lids on them in Oblivion for example.

And Bethesda is just publishing it, they're not producing it. Other people are in charge of that. They're using UE 3.

You get to kill people with magic powers coming out of your hands, I don't see the issue.

Enter an original world envisioned by Half-Life 2 art director Viktor Antonov.
The art director, meaning the guy behind all the awesome looking stuff.

The game looks promising.

lolArkanestudio....

Bethesda loves to publish their games with lots of bugs and lol at "Austin Powers" game characters...

Besides, I'm not going to waste more words on that piece of shit, I don't need to.

On games.

Looks like Arma III is heading on the right direction with better animations and lighting system. The game Planet Side II will have power armor among other features. The list of vehicles seems interesting. However those tanks seems to be coffins for players. They need to be more agile.

Here's a small list of games (old or new) that I feel were good enough to stick in my memories. I'll trying to leave out games that have already been mentioned on this thread.

Counter-Strike Series (retail versions, not mod related)
This really got me addicted to FPS games.

Warzone 2100
This was an old strategy game by Eidos with LOTS of customization options. It's also now receiving updates and is free to download for PC.

Mechwarrior 3
An old school Mechwarrior game that I played online for months on end. For it's time it was great.
(Google it if you don't know what it is)

Age of Empires Series
Mainly the older AoE games are the ones I feel were great and very addictive.

Metal Gear Solid
I played this game when I was very young and had no idea what to do. Came back a couple years later and played it again to find myself deeply enjoying the story, characters, and puzzles involved.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
It's a great game built on top of a great series. Too much stuff to list about why I like it.

DiRT 3
Absoutely great rally racing mechanics.

Some honorable mentions:
Batman: Arkham games
Dead Space
Fallout series (after release bugs are fixed )
Pretty much anything that's not Call of Duty

Only worthy game in your list. (In my opinion of course)

I agree on the honorable mention of Batman: Arkham games
