Okay....i'm not gonna read all the posts. I've seen enough.
I'm old enough to remember grabbing a pencil and paper, and checking (via "longhand" math) my calculations--along with all my other Jr. High classmates--because noone trusted the new Electronic Calculator answers. Yet. In fact there was so little trust in them that many just didn't use them, until I was in college, several years later. Slide rules weren't permitted, because that might be Cheating, but calculators were, because they weren't considered an accurate, dependable device. I played the first quarter-up Pong games, Space Invaders, etc in the bars when they first came out. yup. playing mazes on my Tandy CoCo2. 9600baud telephone handset interface. heh. "Gaming" about 35 years, i guess.
63+. :)

Over 35 is misleading, your age band is too wide. I'd like to see just how many retired old farts with nothing better to do than game 24/7 there are out here!

Surprised to see 25-35 being the dominant age group here, but that's only a reflection of the forum goers, I'm sure the age distribution of the actual playerbase would lean far heavier towards the adolescents... sadly.

Well keep in mind that this doesn't represent the game, it represents active forum users, who are generally older than the kids just pointing and clicking.

That said, the numbers did surprise me. 17 here, and glad to see that this is a 20+ dominant game. The more I can learn from you old fogies the better.

To the kid in this thread who said "Wow I hope when I'm 35 I'm not playing video games anymore. If you do then ur a sad loser an it be a time to move on be more productive in life."

Ouch.
Me and my people would rather be trying to pull off mortal kombat fatalities when we get to the rest home.

Who do you think content creators are marketing to_
What demographic has the liquidity to funnel extra cash into this sort of past time_
What age are the people who have the expertise and focus to manage the kind of budgets that are gaining on the biggest hollywood productions_

I'm a 39 year old gamer.

There's no way I could've maintained my vidya habit at the level I do now, back when I was a kid living at home.

Just in PC gaming related gear, the amount and value is staggering.

Take my main steam account, for example. ( I maintain other accounts and sizable steam libraries for my 3 children as well)

Steam (one of many steam accounts) Cɹɐɟʇʎdus
4,945.8 hours on record / 78.6 hours last two weeks
This account is worth $1762.08

PC gaming is as worthwhile a pastime as any I've enjoyed, such as performing music, hunting, or fishing.
And like those other interests, it brings me joy and I'm happy to spend some of my free time and money doing it.
Hard work pays off. Eventually you may get to do what you want, when you want.

You're not gonna find a sad loser in me and my vidya.

I hope someday you get to a place in life where the opportunity to spend some of your free hours and disposable money the way you see fit becomes available to you.
So many are unable to for whatever reason. At my age, I can appreciate the small luxury of pursuing it.
