We have to keep going I said, as Eldritch gazed into the empty plains

I pinged him to return, and the walked away from the external hanger, our only source of light other than the mechs on-board floodlights

I hear a dull roar, steadily getting louder

I know this sound.

Eldritch! I yelled, power down everything with an off button, we need to shut down ASAP!

Eldritch looked back at me incredulously, "Are you mad_!"

even as he said so, I began switching off the electronic components of my mech, bracing for what was to come

"Eldritch" I yell, as the roar gets louder, I need you to turret mode, and shut down now!

"I don't know what's going on but hell, this is your party" he responds

I positioned my stalker next to Eldritch's Mech, and hunkered down for what was to come

Not a moment later, thousands of recon drones erupt from the hanger doors where we were standing moments before, and speed off into the horizon. From far away, it might have looked like the tower was releasing a pillar of smoke, but in actuality, these recon drones would serve as the eyes, and ears for Lewis as he began his invasion.

as the buzzing noise faded away, we powered are mechs back up and walked back into the depths of the tower

I see two silhouettes against the harsh outside sun

As the hanger doors closed again, I winced inside as our shadows were crushed by the darkness of the tunnels

"We must keep going" I say to myself "no matter the odds we must go"

Eldritch turned on his mech's flood lights, and we continued up the spire, our foot steps thudding eerily against the suffocating darkness and quiet.

A customized, functional Res_

Check.

A secret hangar filled with serviceable spare parts and ammo to last me forever_

Check.

My L5 Boot_

No check.

Someone is gonna be in for one heck of a time.

Just as soon as I can find the ignition key for this fuzzy ammo carrier.

Those sabot rounds can get a lil heavy at times.

[PROSK CITY, SECTOR A114, HIGH COMMAND]

The heads of Prosk High Command sat around a large wooden table in the dimly lit conference room. The light of Illal's neighbouring sun shone bleakly through the shuttered windows, in a pale, sickly yellow glow.

A member of the Brass, a wizened old Admiral stood akimbo over the others, and announced in a tone that echoed slightly around the room;

"So, I hear that the Sector W42-F245/9 outpost has intercepted a transmission from a certain Callsign Eldritch."

The Brass all grumbled in unison, some glared with contempt, and a few looked stunned. They all remembered the dishonoured Royal Guard Lieutenant  who only awhile ago, had abandoned his duty and killed 2 of their best pilots. Much to their surprise, he had actually survived his time at the outpost, were many of Prosk's soldier had died fighting in the contested zone.

"And apparently, he's found a cache of Crion technology near some abandoned factory near the sector"

The room buzzed with excitement. Crion had always been the most technologically advanced of the 3 MPCs, and a chance to examine their tech would catapult Prosk ahead, and give them an edge over Sentium. However, their innovation had also been their downfall, with the subsequent release of the Hawken Virus.

The Admiral continued to talk.

"However, recently, some... unexpected developments have appeared."

The Holographic screen on the far end of the room lit up, and the men were faced with a confronting image of a strange machine, resembling a tower with a pyramid stuck on it's top. The Brass whispered quietly to themselves. What was this strange thing_ Was it Crion tech_ And had Sentium taken notice yet_

"According to the Lieutenant, this 'machine' The Admiral pointed to the screen on the far wall is highly dangerous, and he recommends that we should follow protocol D-127A/9 'Exodus'"

The Brass muttered over themselves on what to do. Listen to the exiled soldier and hide_ Or Attempt to capture this Machine which could potentially leapfrog them forwards, leaving Sentium behind in the dust_

Holographic terminals sprang into existence around the table in front of the members of the Brass, courtesy of the minute projectors embedded in the table and the ceiling. They glowed brightly against the faint yellow illumination of the floor beneath them. Time to vote...

...

"Right, begin Protocol 8869/A, 'Clamp'." The Brass walked eagerly away, waiting in anticipation of the Crion technology, as their fleets assembled for attack.

As I leave the hangar, piloting a Res for the first time in quite a while, I pick up a radar signature.

Identical to that of an L5 Boot.

My L5 Boot.

Heading... back where I came from_

Fair enough.

Let the chase begin.

(Wilderness, Sector 45B7-Neutral Region)

We were on our way back to the outpost 20 clicks north of us, we were still wondering what the hell was that scream back there last night.

"Brat that scream is still giving me the chills, I can't wait to get back and have a hot meal"

"Ivanov, just chill, it's not like it's going after us, by the way it screamed, it sound it died, so I don't think we have to worry about it."

"Brat's right Ivan, it's dead, whatevet the fuzzy it is." Mike added.

As the 3 A-Class Scout mechs keep heading north, a transmission from one of our comm hacker drones relayed something.

"Boss, we got something, CHD 5 got something from prosk command, man I love this thing, our Sentium clients are gonna- What the fuzzy bunny." Mike said in shock.

"Mike what is it_"

"Sir, Prosk is going to engage Protocol D-127A/9 'Exodus' Boss Sentium needs to know this."

"Then we head for Sentium after our resupply. Scouts, let's move it."

It's been a while since I've piloted any B-class, let alone a Res outfitted for Sharpshooter duties, but I can at least keep him in sight--

Wait where's he going_ That's back the way I came!

...Back towards that factory.

......The one with the war going on.

..........I'm gonna need a faster option than this if I want to be able to get out of there if things go bad quickly... Good thing I'm in Bazaar, you can by anything here.

"KHANG'S MECHS"_

...Eh, worth a shot.

the scientists I worked with, my [associates], were the brightest minds humanity had produced. As my database grew, however, I felt a disconnection between myself and the team I worked with. How was I to know that [REDACTED] was not fluent in russian_ My bantering with the interactions of particles in a magnetic field was met with confusion as well. I realized that my [IQ] had exceeded that of my [associates] exponentially, and that they now [feared] me. Soon after, I requested to have a limiter installed, what use is a team that fears one of it's own members_

The request was denied, our project was far too important.

We finally arrived at Sentium to get our much needed rest and submitted what we got to our clients, seeing their faces when they saw the report, something big is going to happen, and it is something the Wandering Guns will not like either.

We stayed in Sentium for a week, we needed the rest, then I got the call I have been waiting for from Khang's Mechs....

My Reaper armed with a Slug Rifle is ready, I can't wait.

Back to the story!

...

The 2 pondered through the tunnels of The Machine. After having spent much time in it with not much occuring, Eldritch had thought this mission would of been nothing but a simple, albeit long trip to the top.

He had been proved wrong, with the sudden introduction of the recon 'drones' a few moments ago. He had stressed the latter part of that because these drones looked completely alien to the Lieutenant. Unlike the practice drones newbie pilots were pitted aginst, the repair drones combat mechs were issued with, or even the heavily armed combat drones Sient and Eldritch had seen earlier in the Facility, these drones looked vaguely organic, and not organic esque like most Prosk Mechs were designed around. They looked... fleshy.

The 2 continued to ponderously travel through the tower.

...

The 2 now stood in what seemed like a large atruim. The walls and door from whence they came through were made of the same, dark metal characteristic of the machine, but in the centre of it and placed into the ground, was located an enormous, greebled platform, glowing with various colours that cut through the darkness of it's metal. And shining through this, was a shimmering blue energy 'lift' similar to the ones he and the Doc had seen before, on the hangar where he had sent the emergency transmission and had seen the recon drones.

Eldritch pinged the Doctor to see what he thought of this, perhaps they had to enter some special keypass, hack the system or perform some bizarre tribal dance when he witnessed his fellow pilot simply walk into the beam and shoot upwards.

"Well, if it's that simple..." Eldritch followed after and was greeted by his viewscreens filling with static. his gieger counter slightly, before stabilizing again. His viewscreens turned back on, revealing to him the walls of the atruim shooting by, and then vanishing into darkness as the lift entered a series of chutes. it seemed odd that he had felt nothing when he had stepped into the maw of the lift. Well, that was legendary Crion technology for him.

A sharp fizzling noise sounded above, and his viewscreen filled with static for a few moments, and then it reverted, showing to the pilot...

system on

synchronizing spires.....

"well let the game begin" said a voice in the dark room some 500 ft above the 'non-existent' area
the second spier shook, it split and raised out of the ground revealing a mech of uncumbrahimzilbible (don't  know how to spell this one)  size, it moved on four legs to the first spier, the top seemed to be a huge railgun,  there also seemed to be something moving and reshaping around its feet, it looked surprisingly close to how the giga structure looked, but with more life and fluidity

the voice spoke "well , that was more dramatic than expected" the voice seemed old, and robotic
