FloatingPointRenderTargets=False
this thing is making  detonator, and AA  glitchy and   backgrounds stick out more so its harder to  notice ppl in some areas. And i`m not sure how much frames it gives(if gives at all)
better to turn off  CompositeDynamicLight,  SHSecondaryLighting  and DynamicLights if you need frames

The other goal outside of pure frames is to improve visibility. Things like the fog, explosions, smoke and dust clouds can really obscure visibility. That and turning off all lighting makes it very hard to distinguish things from each other. Hence I tried to leave a lot of lighting intact but turned off things that might not give framerate inprovements but instead remove clutter.

And hey, you can consider the giant purple detonator a small, community implemented nerf by knowing when to dodge.

HAWKEN DEVELOPERS: Please make a special setting under low named Beard, which enables this entire config. I tried tweaking the ini myself without much luck but whatever NotKjell has done is absolutely amazing! Playing with 70+ FPS at all times(and i get to have DynamicLights ENABLED!)

BTW: I've MaxParticleResize to 3 and MaxParticleVertexMemory to 900
how did that turn out_ when jintonic and I were testing it (he had it at the same) he was having trouble seeing projectiles with maxparticleresize = 3. I have mine set to 10 and it seems to be mostly fine, though I'm still not getting the frames I want, but that's more than just particles. We know having it any lower than that turns off EVERYTHING. (particles, projectiles, health orbs, effects from jump pads, etc...)
maxparticleresize = 3 is lowest one working. Actually now I changed it to 6 which makes immediately ~4 fps min drop - but I now can see launching moment of a TOW a bit better...  but these are mine very subjective tests too.  At least it won't turn into slideshow at the AA. Don't have patience to test everything methodical way atm like NotKjell - line by line. The Golden Beard - thumbs up.
This game is so addictive... increasing number of players are talking about should go to AA...

Anyone had any luck with either of these (not all at once of course).   I tried them at the top of the Hawkensystemsettings ini and at the bottom of Bucket 5.  Didnt observe any changes, so assumed either not in the right location or don't actually work.

AllowD3D10
AllowD3D11
bUseMaxQualityMode

Also has anyone with good gpu tweaked further using bucket5 and ultra/ultra/NV Physx,  to try and keep the maxed out look but also gain some fps from ini tweaking here and there.  I do like the immersion effects, but have disabled Bloom, Flares, filmgrain,   but am in two minds about radial blur and fog volumes and like keeping DOF.   I'm no competitive player and like the immersion look for the most part.

I don't really have an issue with max settings and keeping 50-60 fps most of the time,  but do suffer from the games fps drop outs which can go down to 15fps which can be annoying.  This occurs if using ultra-low,  tweaked ini or not.   The drop outs do appear to be an issue for me at least.

My rig:

i5 2500k @4.4Ghz
16Gb 2133Mhz ram - Muskin redline ridgeback
MSI GTX 670 PE/OC  @1306Mhz/3645Mhz  (stock bios)
250Gb Samsung 840 Pro SSD + other SSD's and storage HDD's
Asus Xonar sound card
Nzxt Hale Power 90+ 850W 80 Plus Gold PSU
Nzxt 630 Case
50" plasma (16:9) + side 24" screen for teamspk/stats/temps/afterburner etc.

I made these changes and saw only a slight change. Overall just walking around by myself the fps has improved to around 30-40, but still whenever I get into CQC or there's Hellfire explosions in my view, it drops down to 10-15fps.

maybe  you  edited  only  first MaxParticleResize command , wich does nothing.
Also you could go lower with maxparticleresize  to 3  so u get few more frames

Make sure to did the changes to HawkenEngine.ini not just HawkenSystemSettings.ini. Change and play around with the MaxParticleResize and MaxParticleVertexMemory. Those are the changes relevant to hellfires etc.

I copied exactly what NotKjell provided. The only thing I changed was the thing that made the detonator turn into a pink bar. I actually lowered my resolution and that gave me an extra 3-4 fps.

Yeah I'm gonna have to go back and edit stuff later.

Ah yes, I can attest a major FPS increase. I went from roughly 20-25 to almost a solid 50-60 (depending on the map).

This has also improved my performance, drastically. I mean my performance, not my lame computer.

Sadly, it didn't help me. I still have the same 20-30 FPS I usually get. Also, the purple rectangle of doom is hillarious.

Get your hard on.

To be honest, I'd woud not suggest any modification in the INI files which may cause anomalies, glitches or whatever else undesired side-effect in the game.

I'd just share those modifications which really might help for a better performance in the game.

Just my 2 cents.

they may do both, and it still may not break the game, just be something to get used to (such as removing trees/fronds)

I tried your setup notkjell, I didn't notice much of a framerate increase (until I changed the resolution from 1366x768 to 1280x720, but that was 4-5 frames at best, just a normal res change), however, the miraculous thing was that the lag I got when I was in the UI menus that had flashing effects, gone! :D that has vexed me ever since I had to move to this backup laptop.

Jesus I just loaded your settings, I almost didn't recognize Sahara for a second there. Since i've been playing on a very edited ini file I forgot how gorgeous this game is, unfortunately I get around 30 fps with your settings on 1920x1080 while mine can hold me up to 60 and drops only 5-4 frames in intense combat, but as i mentioned....my game looks very ugly XD.
I did like how the fps improved in the menu screen, I need to find out how to do that.

The largest FPS increase from a single setting I've found is DynamicLights. NotKjell's file has this enabled which helps a lot distinguishing mechs from backdrop at any distance outside of close-medium range. If you realllllly need the FPS increase you can disable DynamicLights in HawkenSystemSettings.ini by changing it from DynamicLights=True(Enabled) to DynamicLights=False(Disabled) without the parentheses.

My MaxParticleVertexMemory is at 131972. Should I lower that or increase it_

I have it at 10 and 1000 respectively and it works fine. I can't really give more insight than that. Again, my setting's aren't made and optimized by someone who knows what they're doing lol. They're brute forced because I wasn't happy with how turning off dynamic lighting kills visibility.

the negative 1 setting means that the maxparticleresize has absolutely no limit. I know it seems odd, but that's the number for that setting to be limitless. setting it to a positive integer makes it more constrained.
We've been lowering the memory allowance for particles, hoping to remove some particles and free up memory space for other render effects.

I had dynamic lights turned off for so long, when I tried your INI, I couldn't see for awhile
