INI modification for low frames

So many of you know that I have always had crappy framerates. Even on low I generally only get 15-20. So I spent some time and went through comador's guide here -

After a few hours, I managed to get an ini that give mes anywheres from 30-50 depending on the map and location. It also includes a hilarious detonator visual glitch. For those interested, open up HawkenSystemSettings which should be located in My Documents/My Games/Hawken/HawkenGame/Config. I do recommend making a backup because I have no idea if my setting will work on someone else's computer. Then remove everything below and including [SystemSettings] and above [SystemSettingsBucket1], delete it, and replace it with this -

Also, go into HawkenEngine.ini and change MaxParticleResize to 10 and MaxParticleVertexMemory to 1000. They appear in two places, and while I don't know if you need to change both I did.

It should give increased performance without making the game a muddy mess. Known visual errors are the detonator and blue sphere around points.

Do you feel like the blue sphere hurts your game play at all_  Does it cause any LoS issues_

As long as they aren't invisible, they should be tolerable.

Nah, it's weird but no real issues. At most it can be annoying in the one spot shown in the 3rd screenshot, but that's really the only area I've found like that. Overall visibility I feel is better than on standard low settings due to reduced smoke effects.

Are people still getting the blue sphere_ I only got that for a little bit after the Reaper update, for a long time now, I have been getting the old red sphere.

edit: after actually looking at the image I see it is a different blue sphere than the one that caused a huge uproar a while back :P

I noticed that you have it set to 1920x1080, I have the same fps on that resolution as well 30-50 with the ini modified, but lowering can keep it at 55-60 (i have it capped) regardless of how many explosions or mechs are on the screen.

Well I made comparison of my INI tweaks line by line... I saw you had made lots of max LODs reductions.

Also since my fps wasn't that bad I didn't make so significant tweaks as you had halved quite a bunch of numbers.

So thanx a lot. Game looks good yet my fps improved a bit. Good test run is the Training mission. Didn't drop below 40 fps - my res is 1900X1200. FOV 105.

Last three lines were interesting so I added them too.

BTW: I've MaxParticleResize to 3 and MaxParticleVertexMemory to 900

Yeah, forgot to mention but this is at 1920x1080 and 90 FOV. I can't stand playing at lower than native resolution, and I haven't bothered to go beyond the FOV cap.

Going even lower on MaxParticleResize and VertexMemory probably can't hurt. 10 and 1000 seems to have stopped most issues caused by hellfires and explosions for me though.

Also don't take what I have here for anything super optimized. Pretty much I went line-by-line with comador's guide and turned off everything unless it made the game look worse. I'm sure others more educated at this could optimize it further, but I felt like giving a baseline for others as most of what I've seen out of others ruins a lot of visibility.

Last night when we were playing against each other in a Missile Assault I was going against you with 10-15fps... It was driving me nuts! I'm gonna try this out when I get home.

Shouldn't he practice at that... 1-2 fps could be OP though...

this thing is making  detonator, and AA  glitchy and   backgrounds    stick out more so its harder to  notice ppl in some areas. And i`m not sure how much frames it gives(if gives at all)
better to turn off  CompositeDynamicLight,  SHSecondaryLighting  and DynamicLights if you need frames

how did that turn out_ when jintonic and I were testing it (he had it at the same) he was having trouble seeing projectiles with maxparticleresize = 3. I have mine set to 10 and it seems to be mostly fine, though I'm still not getting the frames I want, but that's more than just particles. We know having it any lower than that turns off EVERYTHING. (particles, projectiles, health orbs, effects from jump pads, etc...)

Just don't turn off the one that says lightmaps in that same block, you won't be able to see surfaces.

what were your frames at before hand_ performance boosting is less linear and more of a curve.
