I recall seeing someone suggest that the C-class "wings" or shields should always take reduced damage.  Think it's a good idea that opens some interesting gameplay mechanics.  Specifically, C-class pilots with good reflexes could swivel to reduce incoming frontal damage.

I'd like to playtest that change.
A new use for Shift+S.

For being pretty useless I tend to put a lot of work in on my Cupcake and Brawler. If the Type C's go I'll be a sad panda.
I'm pretty sure that the removal of the C-Class would result in several of us C-Class fans riot in the streets (it'd be a very small, and spread out riot) and then burn down the HWK offices. Or at least leave a bag of flaming dog fuzzy bunny on their doorstep.

If we riot will Adhesive send out the Vanguard Cupcakes after us_

Because the "shield" would cost temporary blindness and an inability to return fire, it could be interesting.  It would reward pilots who have the required reaction times and who are able to rapidly reacquire targets upon the return swivel.  The potential for new movement/duel styles and for approaches beyond the current peekaboo corner hump also intrigues me.

For players who keep track of their opponents reloads, you could even do some interesting stuff fighting in the open.

It opens up a whole lot of cool tactics and I've always thought suggestions like this were awesome, but whose to say if ADH will do this or not. I recall them saying that not all C classes will have the same ability. I hope something like this is implemented that would be so cool!

Yeah, exactly.  You could quickly push a position without needing a lot of cover/corners while forcing lighter mechs to retreat.

*Edit*
The reason I don't enjoy C-classes at the moment is that they're based almost entirely on positioning.  I find that kind of play dull.  The suggested mechanic would bring reaction times and new movement styles into the equation, and would have me spending a lot more time with my brawler.

Yeah, would actually force them to engage in CQC/think about their positioning beyond "hide in the back".

I think I'm the only one lost as to what you are suggesting. Are you talking about always having the shield pulled over the front without losing mobility_ On the sides_ Something completely different_

At all times, the wings give damage reduction to whatever part of the mech they're covering.

If anyone ever takes away my Grenadier, I will devour their everliving essence.

Seriousley though C classes are good once you deal with the speed. I have 5 level 25 a and b class mechs and the Grenadier seems to be the most fun.

Anyway Palad1ne - You are pretty handy in your Rocketeer W/ EOC and I've seen you do well with him in TDM as well as Siege, why the change of heart_

To be honest, C classes are kind of rubbish when you first get them. However, once you equip those babies with some internals, optimizations and items, and of course some love and patience, you'll realise how amazing these beauts can be.

One thing to remember that is crucial when playing a C class: you need to turn the cards into your favor.
If you're a Brawler, what the hell are you doing in the wide open_ Lure your pray around a pillar and eat them up like Packman while dodging like an ice skater. If you're a Rocketeer, why are you fighting in CQC with lots of cover_ Lure your enemies into open terrain and wreck them with a fistfull of rockets and EOC pucks. See my point_

A successful C class pilot is the one that can effectively devise tactics which include positoning, item usage, teammate uttility etc. Stay with the team, provide support fire or blast through the open lines so your teammates can pass through. C classes bring up what's truely beautifull in this game and what Hawken is all about, so please learn to appriciate them.

Get your hard on.

Hi guys^^

to the OP: If you take my Grenadier away, i'll send my cat to haunt your dreams at night! :P

Secondly: Let's face it guys - we are handicapped. But for that, most C-class pilots fight extremely well.
If the special ability of the C-class mechs should ever work properly, or be changed to something useful, i can already hear the A- and B-class crowd screaming for a nerf, because we're doing great already^^

Greetings from the land of the Bratwurst

Ysen
