Secondlife uses it, and its /crashy as hell/. it quietly, silently crashes in the background and then never recovers, never re-runs its process, doesn't leave log traces, crash logs or notice that its even having a problem, nothing.
In SL you have to trick the client into re-starting the voice system by going through some song and dance in the options window, which starts vivox for 'testing' your headset/mic.. and then it stays running. But it could crash at any moment, randoly, even when not in use. how do you know its crashed_ Because everybody around you suddenly falls silent.
This is the root of the problem, I garantee it.
oh, and bump, I have this problem too it seems! I thought voip was disabled in this game, lololol_
Edit:
I was curious if a similar fix might work for Hawken.. so I went to steamappscommonHawkenBinariesWin32 and found VivoxVoiceService.exe and started it before I started hawken. When I was in hawken, I went to the sound options, and the voice 'test' button actualy let me hear myself..
No idea yet if it actually works in game yet. but I kept an eye on the process while I played the game for a while, and it stuck around without issue. But so far I have not heard anybody speaking.
Edit 2:
It worked, for a while. People could hear me and i could hear other people. but after a match or two, it stopped working again. Killing and restarting the vivox program didn't bring the functionality back, it likely only works when its started before the game is started.. so..
yeah, its buggered. :/

My stuff works in ALL other games and software I have, so no BS of it being the fault of my equipment please.
I also haven't heard ANYONE talk in-game for a very long time.
I do sometimes see the VOIP sign at somebody's name, but there's no sound coming out.
Tbh it's getting kindof annoying.
