I've seen a lot of speculation on this issue but I want to clear it up for good. No changes made to balance had the slightest impact from becoming available on Steam.

Balance changed were made to the game independently and discussions started on the addressing of balance fixing took place before any sort of Steam plans were finalized. Lower TTK does not somehow equal a wider audience.

WE ARE PAYING ATTENTION TO FEEDBACK AND WILL MAKE BALANCE ADJUSTMENTS AS WE FEEL ARE NEEDED. Multiple multiple threads on the same topic does not make us more aware of concerns.

The very fact that I can never see anyone on the forums agree as a whole on the same element of balance shows that the community doesn't know what it feels is right for the game as a collective unit. A single person might have their opinion but as a group I've never seen anything unanimous. We need to make HAWKEN the best we can make it and that means at its very core 100% of it will never appeal to 100% of the population.

Please consider we've also been gating access behind codes so the entire population that's been playing so far doesn't even have access yet, so there is a lower player count. The lower the player count the less balanced matches are possible.

The update had been available for 3 days and I've seen more smurf account posting than I can believe on the topic. One thread yesterday had seven unique accounts posting from the same IP address complaining.

Our numbers have been strong in relation to the percentage of people that have access and to get back on my original topic, Steam gives us greater technical agility, greatly reduced cost for content delivery and immediately a wider potential audience.

Anyone angry over the TTK... Can you give it a chance_ A handful of matches is not a chance. We love HAWKEN more than anyone out there. It's 50-60 hours of our week and such wild accusations and anger from a relatively mall percentage of those playing does not make sense. That doesn't make your opinion less valuable, but yelling more and louder helps nobody.

Please keep things constructive, no personal attacks and for crying out loud have some pie or something. Maybe warm cherry pie because that's awesome.
Hold on here...so because we aren't unanimous on a subject means we dont know whats right or good_ No no no see a very large percentage of the community feels that the ttk is laughable.  Multiple threads are a product of what this update has created.  I know I never would have posted in the first place if it weren't for this insane update. In this thread alone maybe 2 people have stuck up for the update while many have the same problem....you guys done f*cked it up

The fact you just called me and others whiners is bs...so because we are unhappy with the update and want to voice our opinions that makes us whiners_ haha If youre argument is that youre tired of arguing and repeating yourself than don't get involved its pretty simple.  Nobody is being hostile or sayin im right and youre wrong. I even said I respect who likes the updates opinion..

Has anyone else noticed that it's almost exactly the same handful of people who have been going around doomsaying and thread-brigading Hawken for the past couple of days_

Mmhm, I know that saying that the majority is always right is a fallacy. I am not saying that we are right. I am saying that if so many people have the same argument, it should be respected and held as legit.

Also, yes, please show us how spamming and making multiple threads about the same subject is wrong by copy/pasting your arguments about how it's wrong. ;)

I've said this elsewhere, but I'll repeat it here because it's simple and helpful.

If I can count on one hand how many hours you've played since the update, then chances are you haven't tried all the mechs or game modes yet.
Do yourself a solid and give it a week. Play it a lot and take notes on specifics. If your issues can be quantified, they can be fixed.

That's exactly it. The update isn't even content-complete, and many who flocked to the forums to naysay and belittle others who have enjoyed themselves had only played the (unfinished) patch for a handful of hours. The behavior of this community is really toxic and abhorrent.

yet again, the vocal forum users (and ergo a handful of anecdotal threads) are by no means representative of the majority of Hawken players

One tiny difference.  This is the first time I personally disliked the game play.  I also sense a stronger polarization in the players, opinions are stronger, differences are over more fundamental issues.  Normally moderate members on both sides are passionately arguing.  I don't remember the term "twitch" being used like it is today.  I don't believe this is the same at all.

See the thing is that even the few, and i mean few, threads that have been started sayin how much they love the update I dont hop on sayin NOOOOO it sucks bla bla bla...thats their opinion and good for them that they enjoy but for whatever reason when people say they dont like it people need to hop on the thread call them names like whiners and tell them theyre not good at the game and to get over it ect ect..Why cant the people who enjoy the game just let us have our threads voicing that we dont like it_

Because most of the threads that popped up (some just minutes after the game was available on steam) are just kneejerk reactions and hyperbolic doomsaying instead of well-articulated talking points suited for actual discussion - y'know, what this thread is for_

Im from jersey and yea has the smell lol Whats funny was the one post sayin "isnt funny how its the same people hating on the game. I just looked it seems to be the same 5 people who stick up for the game while many of us are sayin they dislike it hahaha It seems like even the devs are tryin to keep a positive spin on the update.

So lowering the TTK to a more twitch style was not influenced at all to appeal to the population of Steam_

Balance changed were made to the game independently and discussions started on the addressing of balance fixing took place before any sort of Steam plans were finalized. Lower TTK does not somehow equal a wider audience.
Right. I am not saying that. I am saying that the more twitchy-style of Hawken will appeal to more twitchy players.

WE ARE PAYING ATTENTION TO FEEDBACK AND WILL MAKE BALANCE ADJUSTMENTS AS WE FEEL ARE NEEDED. Multiple multiple threads on the same topic does not make us more aware of concerns.
Good to know we are heard. I honestly started the OP post last night. I did not do a forum search on this subject. That is my bad. Sorry for the additional spam.

I understand that. Isn't there a poll somewhere on the TTK. Ah yes, here it is: https://community.pl...e-to-kill-poll/

Please consider we've also been gating access behind codes so the entire population that's been playing so far doesn't even have access yet, so there is a lower player count. The lower the player count the less balanced matches are possible.
So why the decision of releasing the keys in waves_ It seems that you guys (the devs) could receive a bunch more feedback on the new state on Hawken than currently.

The update had been available for 3 days and I've seen more smurf account posting than I can believe on the topic. One thread yesterday had seven unique accounts posting from the same IP address complaining.
Whoa. That's pretty crazy, actually.

Our numbers have been strong in relation to the percentage of people that have access and to get back on my original topic, Steam gives us greater technical agility, greatly reduced cost for content delivery and immediately a wider potential audience.
My problem does not lie with Steam. I think it was a brilliant move to release it on Steam.

I was being constructive. My OP post outlined the exact reasons why I don't agree with the lowered TTK.

Please keep things constructive, no personal attacks and for crying out loud have some pie or something. Maybe warm cherry pie because that's awesome.
Cherry pie sounds fantastic.
Devs, I love you guys. But, as a gamer and forumite, I feel it is my duty to give feedback, even if it is not positive. :)

No, it's a nicer way of me saying that just because you NaudyCaudy hate an aspect of the patch it doesn't mean everyone else does. You're a single voice regardless of the number of posts and threads. Now I'm NOT taking away anything from you having an opinion, or saying that your opinion isn't valuable or shouldn't be processed but we are far from anything 50/50. I believe I also said that we will make balance changes as we believe are necessary.

So basically if 100% of the population doesnt agree that your patch sucks than who cares_  Its not just me HUGHES as you can see just in the past half hour many people have complained about the update. I bet youre a lot closer to 50/50 than you think. I kno practically everyone im friends with on hawken has the same opinion as me.

implying a handful of threads (many from smurf accounts and non-playing spammers) and your friends list = majority of Hawken players

And in the future hughes you dont have to find a nice way to say something to me. Your attempt to say that im singled out and that im the only one who dislikes an aspect of the patch is hilarious and downright ignorant.  Yes you still have a large percentage of the community that likes the patch but i feel you have almost the same amount of people who dislike it. I didnt even start this thread and theres at least 3-4 more other threads on the 1st page of general discussion that have the same views as me and i didnt start those either.
