For away, Plantronics .Audio 646 DSP. Compact, light, practically indestructible, and cheap enough not to be an issue if they get lost. Not the most comfortable headset in the world, though.
The thing I really like about those two are that as USB headsets, they both appear as separate devices for audio control, so I have the option of using them purely for voice-comms while still getting game audio through my 5.1 speakers.

Koss portapros [I always wanted a pair, these bad boys are replacing my AblePlanets. Metal beats Folding Plastic everytime] I'll use these for general music and 3DS time.
For Hawken [and product reviewing for work..] I got a set of F.R.E.Q 5's. I really like them so far, Very solid build. Metal as well [durability is a must for me, also I loved the M.M.O 7 so it was a good choice] The mic is noise cancelling [HD radio quality] also you can hear yourself through the headset while the mic is on so you don't end up yelling into the mic [hard to explain but I know that the hardcore PC gamers know what I am talking about]. So yea, going to fully put this product through its paces just to be on the safe side.

I've tried getting good quality headphones but because of how I sit I tear through cords. It's either shell out buttloads for a decent wireless headset or use essentially disposable buds.
