Everyone calm down!

This is is NOT A DEMO, it is only a BETA LAUNCH, which means we only get access to in-game assets that the developers wan to test at this time.

I find it amazing how so many people will sign up for a BETA, get accepted into it and before even the first hour of gameplay proceed to complain about the state of the game.

Have patience people! Even if the Mechs don't look like they used to; have no fear! I'm sure they didn't delete them never to be seen again!

I'll admit, seeing people complain and say the game is doomed during a beta is a pretty normal sight, but I've never seen complaining before the beta has actually started, haha.

I like the TV mech and the new sharpshooter.

I think GERTY's face would look good on TV mech.

I don't mind the idea of crappy looking Mechs to start out in.  Just like all the other F2Ps where you start off in little more than garbage, making that next tier feel all the more rewarding when you've earned it.

And can you think of a better way to earn a new and improved Mech, than to have started out dodging missiles and avoiding fully automatic weaponry in a tube-TV_

To be fair, all of our mech designs are pretty ugly. The junky, macgyvered look is kind of our thing... "TV mech" is actually pretty adorable if you ask me.

Kinda got that tone of it from what I was seeing today... You should add a flashy "Knight Rider Kit" LED strobe below the cockpit next hehe.

Already thought of Mike the TV well before.  

Random thought:

I was looking at Mike tonight, and had an idea...

Recall that alpha participants were going to get some kind of cosmetic thing_  Perhaps this is it.  After all, Mike does look awfully "-1 gen", if you know what I mean.

F2P Model is required to drive sales of cosmetic items for funding. Basically, you cannot have your cake and eat it.
Me_ Personally I'm embracing the ugliness. If the F2P Model encroaches on mech performance or gameplay, then sadly I'm gone. :/
If it does not, I'll have fun and might contribute too. I've nothing against paying for a game (would have put down £15-£30 for Hawken), but I don't get involved in uneven playing fields.

Look out for me in the bright pink ugly blocky mech, but on the top of the score board! (I wish!)

PS, actually to me the mechs look higher poly and have more detail. Just they are more squarer versions for this run of the Betas than have been previously shown (in videos, NDA lips sealed!).

They're ugly on purpose so people will be more inclined to purchase the body parts with real money to make them look awesome. I am a huge fan of this abstract art style that the mechs have though and the Berserker is probably my favorite looking mech.

There are a number of mechs that look as if they have taken an ill-advised speederbike ride through the Ugly forest in this beta, that's for sure!
