Would like to clarify something quickly.  This isn't a TPG-sanctioned thread.  Anything officially related to TPG will be posted by myself.  That being said, if there's sufficient interest (read: sufficient teams), we will create separate divisions - something that we've stated since the league's inception.  Rather than term it a "B League," however, we'd probably separate them into Open and Invite divisions.

Crockrocket, if you wouldn't mind editing this into your OP, it'd be much appreciated.  Thanks.

*Edit* Should note that I certainly don't mind the ongoing discussions within this thread.

Of course, I meant to make that a little bit clearer to begin with!

I explained it already, that I will even play 1v6 against whoever and never back off. But you clearly should have noticed that omni's strength is a major factor in the players wanting to make a B league or even join it.

Ok, I really need to interject here, because this was never an intention of a B-league or an Open as it seems to be evolving into under Crock's spearheadingshipness (yeah I just made that up, whatchu gonna do about it). This whole idea sprung from the idea that TPG would benefit from new blood and an effective method for recruiting that would be B-teams of established groups and then since that was unviable, a set of teams that would compete amongst themselves, within the extant structure of TPG. Yeah, we'd get stomped by higher-level players and there would be room for exploitation if A-level players were to join an otherwise B-level team, but that wasn't the point. The point was getting more people into TPG and getting those players better by interaction with more skilled players.

A division between Open and Invitational would be great, but if necessary the B-teams would still form and still play, because even if we got booted from play early on in the season, we could still scrim. A rational, stats minded part of me doesn't think we have the numbers to really justify a second league and we would have to just be aware of where we sit in the rankings. This is as much about networking as it is about playing. We're a small, disparate community, so we need to pull together within whatever frameworks we can. Scrimming pays off.

If anyone, and let me be clear here I am not focusing you here Elite, is thinking of joining the B or Open under the pretence that it will let them avoid stomps or let them "win more" I would strongly advise them to reconsider their attitude. You will play better teams. Period. It's harder to learn from stomps, but you still can and you will still get better by playing those teams that don't stomp you.

Hawken is a relatively small community and imbalances in player skill are going to happen. This is not about avoiding those imbalances. It is about rectifying them by injecting new blood and getting it to the level where those imbalances don't matter.

I am going to join the B League.

For reasons I have explained in the other thread, I'm not personally against this, there's just going to be buckets of derision headed your way if you do.

Then again, it's you Omega, so I'm sure you swim in it anyways.

Approximately how many buckets of derision can I get if I stack a B-league team with Omega_

I would rate Omega has ranking of approximately 1.5 gigabuckets, but that has to do more with the phenomenal multiplier that his unique and flammable personality has. Having never played with Jeff, and only knowning him by his reputation, I would say...

20

20 buckets.

Nothing against Xacius but I don't think he would add anything to Omni's A-team at this point.  They currently have Nept, Leonhardt, hestoned, Omnistone, iaredave, Climatic, and 7rip, so unless someone is leaving or he's going to be on a B-team, it seems like kind of a waste to have someone sit on the sideline all the time.

That being said, we'll be having Xacius focusing more on twitch shooters than on Hawken.  More for him to learn there.

WTB better mouse for my slender hands.  Seriously, I need a really big mouse.

I also have large hands and use the Mionix Naos.  It's large and wide but a bit short, has weight customization, and is really quite comfortable all around.  Highly recommend if you're willing to shell out the money for it.

I'll be praying non-stop for you to play against those great players and "learn" from them ... It's dumb to see people with no clue judging me, if feels, pretty ... dumb ...

I don't think Amid was judging you in any way, shape, or form... In fact I think if you go back and re-read his post that's pretty clear.

I know a lot of players feel way out of depth going against the big dogs especially a team of six 2300+ players, but if you want to actually have fun against these teams you need to change your perspectives! Shedding your fear of these teams would be a good start.

Back when I was a puny nubblit I knew who the good players were (Xacius, Hestoned, Jeff, ect) and I would pay them special attention. I said fuzzy bunny the reputation/KD/WL I'll go after them with everything I got, and most times I would lose, and I would die many more times after that. What I found was I had developed "triggers" for these names, increased heart rate, adrenaline..  While in some cases these are good things, in this case I found myself acting too early, or hesitating and acting too late. I put them on a pedestal and by doing so I gave them even more ammunition, I couldn't predict them because I had built them up too much. I learned to calm my nerves by doing breathing exercises but not too much, I still wanted some of that "twitchyness" so I may play bit erratic and throw off my opponent. Eventually I just started playing smarter, more patient. Thats when you start to surprise good players or defeat them on a balanced field. The fear is replaced with respect, respect for your opponent and their capabilities so you don't underestimate or overestimate them. This goes the same for 6v6's.. Against Omni.. Ya you're probably gonna lose but you'll learn a hell of a lot more for them! Don't forget to ask these good teams questions about everything, I remember stomping a few teams last season and we didn't get a peep out of them! I would've liked to seen more Q&A after these matches.

My advice: Forget the numbers, forget the mmr. They will drop, no doubt about it. Start going after these tough players and start dying a lot. You'll learn so much faster. Just by having more fun you'll tend to play better too. It's not worth getting so worked up about that you crumble and start seething with anger. Theres enough trials and tribulations in all our personal lives that we really don't need to create another source of stress.

Please if any team needs help filling out a roster with more people or has any questions on strategy or tactics feel free to PM me. Please start having fun guise. please.
