I have to go to down to a lower res (1360x768) on top of keeping settings on low just to make the game playable. During intense combat, despite the low settings, fps falls to about 15 from 35. Below is my machine:

i73610Qm
GTX680M
8 Gigs ram.

Anyone else having issues with relatively high end machines_ Maybe issues with gaming laptops. Just to clarify, there is nothing wrong with the card. Temps never go above 76 playing battlefield 3. Fps are above 50 at all times playing BF3 on everything high. Everything game i own is practically runs at 60+ on high.

Is there a setting i could tweak etc_ Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks

Edit: Apparently i can't type properly

I have been having similar issues.  I run every game at 1920x1200 no problem, Borderlands 2 is the most recent game I play with no FPS issues.  One thing I have noticed and you might want to check is to see if Hawken is even using your machine.  When I put task manager and my ATI CCC on the other monitor I can see that both my CPU and my GPU are only being used like 50-70%

Well the game is lagging for me too looks like low FPS the funny thing is if I zoom I have perfect FPS anything can happen in zoom mass explosion etc. it's great but if I zoom out low fps instantly. And I run it on 1024x768 with low settings :/.

There is a way to improve FPS by messing with the ini files in the install folder of Hawken. I went ahead and asked someone that I know who might remember those settings and I'll report back here and help you.

@ silent cid
that would be great, i already went in to an ini to combat the framerate cap.

At 1920x1080, I'm getting frames in the low forties possibly even high 30's @ times. the drops are pretty steep when they happen. Even with the graphics on high instead of ultra

For the people who have AMD cards you could always try doing several things to see if this helps you. In your ..MeteorEntertainmentHawkenInstalledHawkenFilesHawkenGameConfig folder there is a DefaultSystemSettings.ini where you can do a few tweaks. Now I'm not 100% sure if this will help, so I'm only guessing since I don't have an AMD card. See if any changes to this file helps.

Try turning off AmbientOcclusion=True to AmbientOcclusion=False.

-I've heard people get a bit of performance back with this being off on other games. It may not hold true for this game.

Can change Bloom=True to Bloom=False since this isn't in the in-game video settings.

-It may help it may not.

ResX and ResY change it to your resolution of your monitor so that when settings become in effect it doesn't go back to the default 1280 x 720. I have mine set up as:

ResX=1920
ResY=1080

@Bibilo try running this game in single card mode since I don't believe Nvidia has released a SLI profile for this game yet. See if that helps. Could also turn off MLAA if you have it on.

Disclaimer: I don't recommend changing any settings in this file that you don't know. It may backfire and cause the game to not run properly. Make sure you backup the file first.

I have this laptop:
i7 2630m
GT555M 3GB
8GB ram @1333
SD
1600x900

game is unplayable at lowest settings and everything turned off, seems like is using the integrated hd3000 (judging the performance)  instead of the Nvidia but even forcing it to cooperate wont help, i know its only a laptop but i can play any game at fairly high settings, seems weird not being able to play it at low and with lower res...

I understand your pain dude...Playing on my gateway laptop is hurting my eyes with the abysmal FPS...if you got a desktop, just wait until you get on that to start playing...seems to require a little more processing power than initially thought...

If you believe it's using the HD3000 GPU instead of the discrete Nvidia GPU. Sometimes just updating your Nvidia drivers helps. From my understanding in the Nvidia Control Panel there is a way to disable the Intel GPU and have you keep using only the Nvidia GPU. Not 100% sure if that will work as I don't have a laptop.

Try some of the tweaks on the ini I posted here and see if that helps. Keep the Capped Smooth on at all times.

the strange thing about this perfomance drop is that it happend kinda over night, yesterday i was able to play a couple of matches and did run the game on 1680x1050, textures high, graphics medium, anisitropic 8x and everything was smooth and nice, no fps drops at all.
today without changing anything i cant even play it on 1280x1024 window mode everything on low or deactivated...
amd phenom 1 quadcore 2,6+, 4gig ram, nvidia 9800gtx+
not the best pc anymore ofc but ya... it did run just fine yesterday :(

Edit: no single change does alter that performance issue at all. my config is nealy completly false now and the game does not even change its look. am i missing something big here on myself or whats going on_

If anyone has a second monitor, try pulling up task manager and whatever you use to monitor GPU usage on that second screen and please reply back on if the game is actually utilizing your GPU/CPU to the max.   I am hoping this is just some optimization tweaks Meteor still has to do.  I know my comp is capable of more but for some reason the game just doesn't want to use all my computer's resources.

I feel like if it used 100% of my CPU and GPU and I still got low FPS, I would be ok with it.  However, it is barely taxing my computer and then giving me low FPS. :(

Other tweaks you can mess with in the mean time. I wrote this on another thread so I've copied it here.

It's not recommended that you edit the BaseEngine.ini file located in your MeteorEntertainmentHawkenInstalledHawkenFilesEngineConfig folder if you do a simple search for these two settings you can edit the SmoothedFramerates.

MinSmoothedFrameRate=59
MaxSmoothedFrameRate=60

Just change the max and test it out but sometimes too much can cause problems so be careful.

60 FPS with 16% CPU usage but I'm using a SandyBridge CPU @ 4.3GHz.

sadly doesnt help at all, just like the rest. want to thank you though for your try!!! guess i just have to wait for the devs to come up with a solution for that. :(

Yeah just go into the 3d panel and change global settings to use nvidia card for preferred graphics card. That's the easiest way to do it. Unfortunately, my game is being run on my GTX680M but like i said at the start of the thread, i can't more than 30 fps with everything low and res at 1360x768> Hopefully, they can fix this soon =(

Im getting horrible frame rate issues, My rig is an amd 8120 bulldozer with XFXDD7970. i can run bf3 in eyefinity at an average of 50 to 55 fps
on most of the maps with the settings turned down, and i can barely keep this game above 30fps on one screen at 1920x1080. the frames are all over the place! not much better at  1280x720
