Here's a benchmark of a single round of Deathmatch.
DxDiag Attached.

2012-11-09 09:05:24 - HawkenGame-Win32-Shipping
Frames: 13042 - Time: 397553ms - Avg: 32.806 - Min: 0 - Max: 70

Now normally 32 FPS Avg is not bad, but there's this weird sluggy feeling. Especially when around other mechs and in gunfights, that cannot be explained. Also I noticed looking or even being in certain parts of the maps drops the fps significantly. I can assure you this is an optimization thing, my dxdiag is included.

Yea seems somehow the mechs are not yet optimized in terms of performance
running 45-80FPS with no mech in sight as soon a mech appears drops to 20-40FPS

Run the launcher make sure you are up2date then
try renaming HawkenGame-Win32-Shipping.exe to ut3.exe
start the game by clicking ut3.exe

All that does is make the game use the profile you have for ut3.

The current release of the beta that we testers have is unoptimized.  Even very strong computers that highly outclass the requirements for the game are having big framerate drops.

Dont think that it's your system guys, it's not, your hardware is fine.  This release of the beta client just has framerate issues.  I'm sure we're going to see a patch/hotfix/or at least a message from someone with the Devs that it's a known issue.

And that's a bad idea, considering UT3 is running a version of Unreal Engine that is about five years older than the build the Hawken team is using.

Yea I get this really bad too. Exactly like you described it. Certain parts of the map, other mechs in gunfights. It's pretty bad. Doesn't matter how far down I turn the graphics, it doesn't change.

Same here. i7, 8g, Geforce GT650m, ssd hd.  I ran at 1920x1080 in cb1, now I'm down to 1280x720 with everything off to get smooth frames. Can't wait until we get a smooth version again!

Have seen this consistently as well.  It gets especially bad when more users join a match.

I'm running a mid-range PC and even on the lowest settings, my cpu starts chugging in battles.  The current state of the game is unplayable with ~10fps.  I don't remember it being this bad in Beta Event 1.

I've seen how well the game runs on my rig* in Offline mode (CB1) with everying on maximum: 50fps avg.   Currently I see 20fps avg. in Online games with everything set to low.  The engine really isn't all that taxing but something hits the wall during online play causing performance to crater - hard.  Once the optimization work reaches us I'm sure we'll be all cooking on gas, it's just a bit frustrating grinding through the (very pretty) slideshow battles presently.  All good things, etc.  :)

* I'm one of the much dumped on AMD CPU/GPU folk.

Edit: I should clarify that I've not seen a drop in performance in CB2, it's just as bad as CB1 was.  Hurrah!  ;)

CPU and GPU are definitely closer to the minimal specs of what the game likely will be, so while you can probably get some improvement when they optimize, you'd probably want to consider upgrading both your CPU and GPU sometime soon.

(Maybe wait for Intel to launch its Haswell architecture next year before you do so.)

Just want to add my 2 cents here. Renaming the .exe to ut3.exe fixed the problem for me. All back on ultra with AF at 16x, 50-60 fps all the way. Good temporary fix until the next patch.

Tried renaming to ut3 but still same issues on large scale battles with fps all over. Not too bad with the smaller battles but still far from smooth.
Running an i5 2500k @4.5 with an hd7970 with ghz firmware and a gtx 460 for hybrid physx. Going to try with out the physx
to see if that's what's causing the erratic framerates.

Well just tried with and without physx on tdm 32players. Roughly better fps without physx min is 28-30 and with physx min 18-20 both while main gpu is getting around 30-35% usage.

it seems people with vram lower than 1.5gb are only experiencing this. i myself haven't had any FPS drops and stutters since the start of closed beta 2. my rig is i5 2500k @4.3ghz 7950 flashed to 7970 and 8gb of ram 1600mhz. playing @1366x768 res. ultra settings @ 60fps no drops..

Main Rig : i5 2500k 4.0 @ 1.248 | Water 2.0 Performer | 7950 3gb flashed | G.Skill Ripjaws 4x2 1600 | Coolermaster GX650w Bronze | asus p8z68-M PRO | NZXT Source 210

Hey Raident, we pretty much have the same setup but you get way better performance. I have to believe it's the drivers, what catalyst are you using_ I'm on 12.11 beta 4. oh and oviously my 7970 has 3Gb of vram.
