Weapons Coolant Rework Suggestion

The only change I want to see made is adding some vents that blow out air or actually witnessing the heatsinks pop out glowing red. I don't like the glowing outline border red. The gun should glow bright orange were the heat is not just put a border on it.

I like the op's post, it is clear and well thought out.
But i have to agree with 3jane's opinion.
And i cant believe none of you thought of using Weapons coolant as a way to remove the "overheated" status. yes you can reduce your overheat time by activating the coolant. Making it even more crucial to know when and where to use it apropriately.

I'm pickin' up what you're puttin' down, OP. Never really thought about it, but you're totally right- weapons coolant is the only skill that is strictly -reactive-, instead of -proactive-. Reactive skills are intrinsically simpler to use. Finding a way to make it mechanically comparable, whilst requiring the user to think ahead, would go a ling way towards equalizing the skill.
