I know at least several people are having this issue. On attempting to log in, I am presented with this error.

Is there anyone who actually HAS managed to log in so far_

Discussion ongoing in bug reports. It's working for me now, ~1.1GB patch to download.

Perhaps they're just deploying it in a staged fashion to reduce server load.

I reinstalled the client and it's working now!
I have fast broadband and it's going to take 30 minutes estimate to patch.

Take a look at hawken news. It says to un- and then reinstall again. Doing that right now...

Un-installing and re-downloading the game has fixed the issue for me. Try that!

I've had this problem since the end of the first closed beta event. Granted, I haven't continually been uninstalling and re-installing, but whenever I've come back to wanting to participate in these beta tests the client refuses to download after the initial install and logging in, giving the error in the thread title.

It's weird as hell, because I was able to play in the Alphas and the first Closed Beta event, but these last two I haven't been able to get into no matter how many uninstall-and-re-downloads I do (and posts on the Support forums never get a response).

Confirmed. Uninstalled old launcher. Grabbed new one: http://patches.playh...enInstaller.exe

Well, uninstalled and reinstalled the launcher twice now, and it still tells me I need to uninstall it and download a new launcher from the place where I got this one. Something... is broken.

Agreed, I uninstalled, cleaned the registry, then re-downloaded.

result:  I got the Hawken Launcher 0.1 that says I need to uninstall.

Huh, guess 3rd time was the charm. Just out of boredom I uninstalled, and installed the exact same launcher that I'd downloaded minutes earlier and had failed. Worked. Downloading 2 gigs of stuff now. *shrug*

edit: just for future reference, I've never installed Hawken before. I had to install and uninstall over and over to get it to run the first time. This is a problem worth looking into.

Up at the top, there'll be a little drop-down menu with your name on it, and it'll have options such as My Profile, My Content, etc. The one we care about is My Settings. Avatar controls are in there.
