I feel like the back story for Hawken is very fuzzy. If the new devs came up with a single-player or even co-op campaign that was offered as DLC, I think it would generate some interest. Therefore, the online play would be still be FTP but the actual campaign would be available to those who decide they want to pay for it.

Hell, maybe even add extra unlock-able cosmetics only to those who complete the campaign or unlock achievements. It could also be used as a way to unlock weapons and items faster than just playing online.

Any thoughts?

I'd be on board so long as

  1. No exclusive mechs or weapons.
  2. It comes after a long-ass period of new multiplayer content.

I have always longed for a campaign and I like your idea. Reloaded would have to be very careful with how they handled the story though.

1) That's what I was trying to say by unlocking mechs and weapons that you normally would unlock through online-play, but faster and through a single-player experience. The only exclusives that would apply for online-play would be cosmetics.

2) What type of multi-player content?

If it were the old, more atmospheric Hawken, hell yes.

But since now every effect and thing is reduced to bare essentials, I would say it wouldn't work that well. Imagine if Metro 2033 was made crystal clear UI indicating ammo, health, etc., sound effects as toylike as possible, and color palette all super colorful and happy, it'd be a completely different game even if you had the same gameplay mechanics.

It would be cool to have eventually, but they shouldn't focus on it at any point in the near future.  There are many other things that are much more important at the moment.

CRT master race... No questions allowed.

I think I would technically buy anything right now to support Hawken.
