hi 

i just played a game TDM, and to my surprise, on the server i was playing against another guy (iaredave), this guy has an mmr of +/- 3000, i am +/- 1800, how can we end up on the same server? 

 i was probably not the lowest mmr player, no need to say in a matter of minutes the score was 4/36.

there is no fun playing against such player, his skill is way above mine 

i thought matchmaking is suppose to prevent this sort of nonsense?

The server you were in was probably judged to be the "most fit" of all available servers at the time, so the Matchmaker dropped him in there since it didn't have anywhere in his skill range to put him.

 

Have you seen this thread? It has the official info on the recent changes, and would probably be one of the better places to leave your feedback on it.

In order to be able to play at all, high mmr palyers need to use the MM (30 seconds) to join the match that is closest to their mmr.

 

You poor little guy just played against one of the best players in Hawken, be proud and thankful to learn from him.

You poor liitle guy just palyed against one of the best players in Hawken, be proud and thankful to learn from him.

Speaking from experience, all one learns from playing with him is how fast it is possible to die in Hawken   I still blamed the ping tho

But yea, I would like to play against the top as I can see how to do it right, but once again, matchmaker ...

On a sidenote, we usually play differently on an low mmr server. At least I do-- we play around and try not to stomp. Sometimes however it does happen, cant have it all.

Keep in mind that it's picking the best game available for them (so highest average mmr). I don't think it's very likely that pros will end up in newbie servers very frequently. It's quite possible it will annoy the average player population, but I don't expect there to be a ton of impact on new players. Some, sure, but not a ton.

the game is not going to survive just by keeping the top players, what the game need is new players,

it would be interesting to know the % of people leaving a game when the game is totally unbalanced.

what we need is people having fun while playing, and letting people with high mmr join game way under their skill , may be fun for them, but not for the rest of the players.

for me (1800) the best experience is playing people between 1600 and 2000

3 or 4 2500+ players joining a 2000 mmr round (which i think is not a newbie one) is detrimental and just put me out.

 

In fact this system seems to separate games in just 2 ranges  (1300-1900 and 1900-2500+)

No you didn't. You used your heat scout with that 5 second promise but never managed to deliver :D i think you are confusing me with someone else.

that was not the k/d ratio, that was the score after maybe 3 minutes playing, 4 kills for our team 36 kills for other team,

the game ends at 40....
