Noticed there's something written on top of the AA in Bazaar. As i'm of the very curious type and a little weird i wanted to ask if anyone happens to know what language that is and what is it saying ? Google translate is fuzzy bunny. And yes, this is definitely art & media, don't question me.

Well google translate says it is Slovak and it translates into... something related to tents, it doesn't even translate all of it.

Also, not all Eastern European countries speak slavic as a first language. For example Romanian is a Neo-Latin (Romance) language. :p

Looking at each word individually you get something like...

 

Open (Croatian) dump (Slovak) flaps (Czech) to (Czech) transition/transient (Slovak/Czech) Pridrezu (?)

 

So, maybe...

 

"Open dump flaps to transition/transport/transient (something)" 

 

Real interesting find though LaurenEmily, I like this sort of thing :)

In context with it written in the AA I guess it means something like "open the flaps for the evading smoke" (from the missiles).

There's writing on weapons too. Take a closer look at the side of the EOC predator, I'm pretty sure it's Japanese but then again I haven't read anything in Japanese in over 4 years.

There are some Chinese characters on the right bottom corner of the picture (Japanese uses Chinese characters and specific Japanese alphabets, so it could be from the two languages):

 

? - Japanese and Chinese: fire

? - Japanese: vast, wide (used in names rather than words) - Chinese: great

 

Beneath, you can guess "Industry." I was unable to find the complete word "??" in Japanese or Chinese dictionaries; so it could read "Vast Fire Industries," but I'm not sure (it should be something like "??" or "??" In Japanese I guess).

 

At the center of the picture, there is something written as well; it looks like a mix of letters and characters, maybe mirrored, maybe Cyrillic script, but the first character, starting from right, doesn't fit any letter I know...

it doesn't seem to be cyrilic , at first I thought tose were numbers but they aren't

I wasn't sure about this. I think having a look at texture files would be helpful.

The CKD logo I've found on a wall on Bazaar bases is actually the logo of a Czech engineering company specialized in tram and train building, ?KD:

 

 

This makes me think the random text LaurenEmilly was speaking about at first may be in Czech. It says:

 

 

otvoren� v�sypn� klapky zasahuj� do prechodov�ho prierezu

 

Google translates this into:

 

 

open hopper flaps extend into the transition cross-section

 

Not sure it's accurate, though... Did former ADH dev team have a Czech member?

 

By the way, there are plenty of fun stuff in texture source files!

If you think about it it makes sense somehow. I mean the hawken logo does have inversed letters so it looks cyrilic and so on. Maybe Illal was first colonized by the soviets? :D

Czech and Slovak languages do not use Cyrillic alphabets. But the game has a lot of Russian references, like thruster names (Volga for example).

I am fairly sure it is just a reference to Prosk Industries, as I find it weird if they decided to get so damned complicated.

Did you also happen to notice the Flak cannon weapon model, is also being used as level static mesh design elements?

I think that has more to do with just re-using old assets to make it cheaper I think.

Whisperer finally answered me. He said something similar to what you guys already puzzled together using Google Translate. There is no use for me to try to translate that back to English. :) And it is Czech, not Slovak (they are very similar).

In modern Chinese,  we use more of ? for the old word ? , same "hong", meaning something big.

In the case, I am pretty sure it is not Chinese----

 

First, this game having Jp language by default

 

Second, many sci-fi movie with this style**, e.g. alien 3 (the architecture), use many Japanese words (mainly katakana or ganji) on it, for decoration.                   e.g. em, on bruiser?

 

**(That is, based on the old Hongkong destination ????-jiu long cheng zhai, I think its the Prosk's style, Sentium style is...more like Front line, modern western style.)

 

Anyway, I will dig it a little, since its quite fun :P

 

BTW

If I recall it right, Hwk has official JP name for the Prosk, just change your game's language and find one game in Prosk map, it should be ????.

Chinese is not use pronunciation to translate most of the name nowadays, it could be ??????/pu luo si ke industry, or a Chinese words that could better describe Prosk--Japanese could have done the same, though.

Using Japanese makes this game somehow much cooler, guess its only  works for those who dont have Japanese as their first language...
