I think that horns can be something pretty cool in Hawken.

As holotaunts actually are, as official purchases, SFX based only (just wave sound thus no mech animation involved..) and limited to 1 use only per match.

The limitation of 1 or 2 uses per match is logical. Or by coherent utilization delays..

This way we don't have pilots feeling annoyed because of others abusing too much of this potential mini feature; which should be something fun (useful too?) in the game and thus not an inconvenience after all. *Add these into the mute user's choice too if required...

I see a number of good number of cases for it.

1. Team intimidation... ( a la ahu?, as in the 300 movie.., right? )

2. Fun momentums..

3. post yours...

Can be fun.. =)

Can be a nuisance too.

Ergo the limitation I rawly suggested above..

Having an scout team mate playing a "meep meep" wave sound taunt while overrunning me would not be so annoying to me...  again, upon a time.. =)

I know what horns I want.

A military horn.

A cavalry horn.

And this.

MLG airhorn obvi

Pubstomping is a whole different strategic discussion, however, and usually just becomes an exploration of the ethics of dumpstering randos.

Anyone else find it ironic that someone with the name "The_Silencer" wants something that makes a lot of noise in the game? ;)

Only in case i've not mentioned it already...

A new setting to mute horns should be available i nthe options and for the more serious pilots in HAWKEN. That would be pretty fair as well... ;)

I came here thinking this was about having "horns" on my mech... like a bull or a rhino.

... Well, the thing is that this feature has its potential in many aspects; inner game market included.

Let's share what my up-to-date notes on horns are:

. We might have a decent variety of horns available in the game via purchases. And not only horns just for laughs but also immersive & cools ones..

. Horns might work in the same way holo-taunts actually do; by consuming number of uses... -> By the way, this could reduce horn spamming pretty much.

. Adding a new setting to ignore/mute horns might be appreciated by many.

. Would be cool to assign one distinct horn per mech as well; if any. Or even various horns per mech in your garage..

. Some fair time delay in between uses would be good idea.

. If you mute a player then his/her horns should get muted as well.

. The audible range of a horn might be similar to repairs.

...horns could add some more of value to the game. From a gameplay stand point: Tactics, fun and/or scary moments, team coordination, mocking, morale*, long et cetera...

P.S. I'm fully aware on that, at this stage, there're many other priorities; but hey... this forum's branch is all about suggestions and ideas; yay or nay? ;)

Will be time for the devs someday to consider on whether this may fit well in the game or not.

Saved. =)

I see the title and the first thing I think of is being impaled on the horns of a mech.

But on topic... eh, I don't want horns.
