Closed Beta video:
"I love how versatile the EOC is [...] projectile [...] higher skill [...]."
ADH: Even though the EOC requiers more skill, that doesn't justify it to be better if used correctly.
- Nerf EOC direct hit damage
- Nerf EOC mine damage
- Nerf EOC mine lifetime
? ... ?! ... ??? ... ?
And that is when the noobisht weapons became the most powerful ones.
ADH: We don't want noobs to have 'bad' weapons and even though they are very easy to use (hitscan, no heat-gen, no ammo, uber high accuracy, etc.), that doesn't justify noobs shouldn't be able to compete with vets.
- Buff every sustained weapon
- Removed inacuracy when boosting, dodging, hovering (only static acucary in EVERY case)
- Increased damage
- Increased range
? ... ?! ... ???! ... ??
Let's go back to Closed Beta where (nearly) everything was fine.
- Vets would stomp noobs day in day out.
- "High skill weapons" are actually better than "Low skill weapons"
- No Air Compressor (Though I wouldn't mind the AC as long as it would follow the physical rules - no instant vertical speed loss when dodging)
- This awesome HUD/Cockpit ... got removed because of low-end players unable to afford a decent rig. So they changed the HUD into ... what we have now.
- Customization Tree (Offense, Defense, Agility aka red-blue-green)
- Internals had tardeoffs
- Don't worry, EMP. (Was actually broken AF)
Ofcourse closed Beta wasn't perfect but FAAAAAAAAAAR better than this BS ADH left Reloaded behind. Hawken got worse with every patch from closed beta on.
Ascension was the descension of the whole game.
- Uber high TTK (Tank A-Classes)
- Ugliest HUD ever
- Arbitrary customization system
- Removal of tradeoffs for internals
- Unrealistic internals (fuel convertor? Increased dmg resistence when dying? Sudden repairs when you kill a mech from a distance?)
Oh, don't forget the unneccessary heatsink update where basically every heat-gen was removed and an insta-3-sec-cooldown added for extra simplicity regarding some kind of resource management (fuel and heat management were completely removed. Believe it or not, there was a time where dodging would burn a small amount of fuel and you actually had to watch your fuel supply from time to time and yes, you were indeed unable to dodge without fuel. Sounds so unfair, right? (not) That's why it got removed.)
I miss the old but gold times of HWK.
