The radar scanners may be a lil too OP. The constant vision with no way to tell if youre in range of an enemy scanner or not.

I believe it should be changed and heres my proposal.

Instead of having the scanner show enemies onthe radar til it dies it should ping it every so often with the MK-I pinging every 7-8 s and the MK-III pinging every 3-4 s.

Of course its a pain to not know youre in range of a scanner and then get jumped by 3 mechs so whenever the scanner pings, all enemies hit by the ping will be hear a short ping alerting them they have been spotted on the map.

Lol. Play the game. Items haven't scaled in ages. Mk1 is 1 Mk3 is 3. Good idea though.

I like this idea, although the letting the enemy know kind of thing puts me off. Let them find out they've  been detected the hard way :D

Heh I kind of like the idea of an icon or a voice basically telling you "you're now in radar range" or "radar detected". It would still allow someone careful about his radar to catch a glimpse of you but at the same time give you an idea to wrap around farther for your flank.

That way you know there's a chance that someone saw you so you'll be more careful or use it as bait.

Would any of the discussion in this thread be useful?

yes i understand that and for the obvious reason that hawken fell apart. but its coming back and what this game needs are ideas on how to make it a better game. hawken is growing and the only way to ensure that happens is to throw out ideas that will be helpful to the community.

ya i wasnt too sure on how the enemy would be alerted but after reading what you said i like the idea of it displaying a small icon near your radar that glows a mild red-orange alerting you to be careful. dont know if having someone say youve been detected would be good though

thats just to counter the radar, reducing the range at which an enemy spots you with his radar. this thread is about changing how the radar works. but that idea would be pretty effective at countering it

i have already proposed a similar idea in my balancing thread; i also have implemented a mini map dot for the radar.

Gotcha... I kinda like the "sweep" concept suggested in this thread https://community.pl...nners/?hl=sweep

Fully agree. Knowledge is power and the more info is accessible to every player the more balanced the game is.

I'd go a step further, make the position of enemy Scanners show up on you radar. They are extremely powerful, so pilots should have to defend them.

i agree in a way but also disagree. scanners are a pain to look for so if anything there should be an internal that allows only that mech to see where the location is of the radar on the map, but then again both the scanner and scrambler make a distinct noise, so youd be able to hear it and then go looking for it.
