So how about dem game modes, TDM is nice and all
but what about CTF or KOTH, Maybe even a one life mode with like 15 people per team or something.

i personally think siege takes a tad too long even if its a stomp 
and i like MA just no one plays it (not counting clan stuff) 

i feel like we need to talk about game modes and what we want out of them
so what do you all want in a game mode and why?

MA and Siege are basically mashups of CTF and KoTH.  A one life mode would be interesting, what about a limited lives / no-repair mode?

Hardcore modes.

 

DM without respawning, TDM with fixed spawn points without respawning.

 

No radar, etc. as we know it from custo mserver events.

 

 

Oh, why? Because why is it possible to get killed by a player, he ends up low health and you are faster in respawning and going back to kill him than he can repair?

CTF i would be into...

 

Hardcore mods -- No radar and Friendly Fire I would be into....

 

but other than that, meh, i kinda happy

CTF.. or Capture the (advanced) Cavorite (mini-extractor) ... or something like that

 

..or just a classic CTF in HAWKEN.. yep; why not


.

The difference between theory and practice is smaller in theory than it is in practice.

I would keep radar with friendly fire on just for the safety reasons.

Whatever the game mode, it'd have to be fairly simple as you can't exactly break a team into a bunch of smaller squads when it's only 6 players to a side.

I would keep radar with friendly fire on just for the safety reasons.

 

Here is the challenge though,

Can you imagine if people were FORCED to learn to AIM more carefully because they might assist the enemy?

 

as for radar... 75% of casual players dont use it anyway so meh....

that would balance out the better players having their flanks ruined by a noobish team mate that decides to boost along behind them...

A King of the hill STYLE match would be a great mode for those high mmr players that dont want to stomp DM... there could probably be a TDM adaptation too

How about a game mode where you don't passively cool down and you need to acquire weapon coolant items around the map that would work just like the Assault's ability in item form (or maybe you could cool down by standing on a platform or something). You start out with several of them, lose them upon death, and don't acquire any upon re-spawning. No Incinerator's allowed.

 

Edit: actually the platform idea is probably more balanced in the long-run.

ok, heres a few idears...

 

Obligatory ctf suggestion

 

or

 

BOT siege but with bots holding most of map and you literally chivalry them from checkpoint to checkpoint, objective to objective killing boss mechs and a "executive" mech at the end

 

or

 

Kill confimed for dm or tdm

 

or 

 

revamp siege, make eu not only something you lug home but also you secure the tree like an MA silo so it feeds the launch between dumps speeding up games and making the "four idiots on one tree" lesson less of a thing. Also this will shake up the dynamic in those transitional "ships down, back to trees" moments making people fight for their claimed pipline and..... add in owning both for no fuel generation for other team

 

 

or

 

invasion type gamemode where certain checkpoints grant victory points as you take them while producing in round bonuses like straffing runs, battleship support, etc...

 

 

however, bot "creep" barracks, boss mech spawn, no-radar zones, missile battery that attacks players but prioritizes to battleship or "strafe bombers" if they are up, artillery or base defenses that are manable via terminal in base for manual defense all come to mind as well as melee and game modes for it(since its not quite for regular game use)

What about some kind of Gun game-ISH mode where you switch into a new mech with random weapons and a random ability with each kill 
For the last round something like 
Random class and mech
No weapons
Heat smash
and 3 heat charges and 1 Det/H.E

Everyone is forgetting to mention a game mode that Hawken already has - Secret Team Gang Bang.

 

(look for the matches labelled Deathmatch, those are the STGB matches, Adhesive just got the name wrong)

No teams in sssdm. No carousel either. every mech for itself.

I like going against the best of any game I play. Helps you in the long run n motivates u to do more. Always room for improvement not failure
