Hey.

 

Loved playing hawken for about 3 years or so.

 

Hate it now.

 

Can't understand how the new version is meant to be an improvement.

 

Bad in-fight performance might be due to my low power hardware, but...

 

What about the disastrous contrast? It's like a smokescreen in front of my monitor. What about the really bad shading bugs with players disappearing behind huge rectangle areas? Why has the chat practically become unusable, clearing the history all the time?

 

Great bypass of UX, guys - but that seems to be normal in software development these days. You destroyed a really good idea.

PS: What would have been a really good improvement: Keeping hackers/cheaters out.

I hate "goodbye" threads as much as the next guy, but most his point are real issues.

 

The update was not an improvement at all.

 

Colors are super washed out, unless, for some reason, you have depth of field enabled.  And when you do this, apparently, it makes the underbelly of Highways practically pitch black.  I'd like to have normal color back without having to having to enable certain options I don't want on in the first place.

 

I don't really know what he's talking about with people disappearing or shading, but usually if someone walks behind a huge rectangle area (like a wall), you won't be able to see them.

 

UX is pretty bad now thanks to things like the game having one of the worst UI's possible, even after remaking it twice.

 

The one point I have to disagree with is the one about cheaters, I haven't seen anyone hacking since the update.  Mind you, I stopped playing till the hitboxes were reverted, and the playerbase is at an all time low, so those might be factors.  I like to think they implemented some mysterious and powerful anti-cheat with the update that is doing a fantastic job (even if the rest of the game is a mess right now).

Why did mods even bother releasing that.
Isn't there some rule about goodbye threads? or is it just a shot in the drinking game?

the UI etc isn't newbee friendly no tutorial on internals lel its like devs don't want my money.  note; ui still freezes ingamebefore I have a chance  to pick a mech

Well, considering that it's only CZeroFive that managing the forums all by himself, these rules will take a while to be put into effect...

 

Although, it could be argued that some of these rules are too suppressive, considering they were made during "The Great Veteran Purge" of Reloaded and the tyrannical reign of the Mech Mods. 

 

I am hoping 505 Games takes the weight of some of the community management, they've already taken over the social media, but I feel that there is a lot that needs to be done with the community in general for things to get better.
