My first real gaming experience was Halo 2.

 

I watched this video twice. The first time I watched it, my mind was in the realm of "oh hey, it's Merl being Merl."

 

I played Halo 2 with some level of seriousness for a couple years before I saw a video called Hops: Episode 2. When I watched Hops Episode 2, I saw some incredible stuff being done by the players, and I felt I wanted to "play that game".

 

The clan Hops was an active clan in the highimpacthalo community - a community centered around trick jumping and glitching within the existing Halo games. In said community, clans would produce videos and share them on forums very similar to this one.

 

Watching that one video sent me on a transition from playing Halo 2 and participating in the bungie.net community to trick jumping in the game Halo 2 and participating in the highimpacthalo community.

 

The second time I watched this video I had the thought, "I want to play that game."

 

 

 

I think we need more videos like this.

(Fun fact: This was before the youtubes. We had to upload our videos to a hosting service, post a link on the forums, and have other members download them.)
