Is there ever a time when this could be considered useful? Or should I not bother?

It's nifty on both Raider instances. Both are in situations where damage is unavoidable so taking on a little bit of damage is inevitable, so the added fuel is especially helpful with their fuel-based abilities.

I've pretty much given up on the Raiders as mechs I'll never be able to get used too.

Raider and scout get a lot of use out of it. Some people put it on Bruiser and Rocketeer, but I don't find its particularly useful on either.

Never give up. Sit down one Saturday and play Raider for 12 hours, you'll get used to it.

Peek a boo isn't really my thing. If its guns had a bit less of a heat issue and/or the KLA was a bit easier for me to use maybe I'd consider it. I'm not really setting out to get every mech, anyway.

I love the fuel converter. It's really insane for an active scout.

After finishing the raider, the fuel converter was definitely a key component to the actual raiding. When using the ability as the gtfo button, you can never run out of fuel when running away.
