I don't really understand where you're coming from....

This thread IS about the competitive scene. If you are familiar with the term, "metagame", essentially his concerns are about where the metagame will end up once there is no more room to evolve.

Everyone wants a cool mech game that's fun. There are people though that enjoy e-sports, and would like to ensure that the scene will hopefully be able to last and be a game that's relevant after a few years and pros master the game.

I come back and this thread is twice as long as it was before. Of COURSE none of it is thoughtful posting. Of COURSE it's some ridiculous argument over nothing.

Even if you're not personally playing in a tournament, this affects you because weapons with extremely high skill ceilings will clean out pubs when used by skilled players.

I'm somewhat surprised at your response, I was not trying to be antagonistic in anyway. But the developers have expressed their interest in hawken becoming an many times in various interviews. I believe even major league gaming was contacted in an attempt to get hawken on their roster is played games for next year. If the developers are putting that much effort forward, then as beta testers shouldn't we try and express issues we come across_

I don't think TDM is particularly suited either, given the lack of centralization
Games that use deathmatch for competitive play generally have things to fight over (like RA and Mega in Quake) or are more complicated (Starcraft technically has no non-killy objective, but there ARE resources and a series of interesting unit combinations, build orders etc.)
