Edit: We have received confirmation from Hugs that private servers will not be available, thank you all for your support.

This is something of a petition i am asking the community to sign in the hopes that MTR/ADH will notice and take into account come tournament time.

I fully understand MTR/ADH might have restrictions/limitations that might prevent them from providing us with private server.

I am setting the ball in motion.

Even if the server browser is back, it would help vastly if we had private servers to use so we don't have to deal with randoms.

And this is where I come in and remind everyone that the devs have stated that community-run servers (i.e. server software is made available to the community for non-Meteor servers) are on the roadmap. Exactly when is the big question, but presumably at least not until Open Beta has helped the game become that much more stable and polished (but possibly during OB itself). That's the piece of info the devs haven't been able to provide, for obvious reasons.

Were not asking for a miracle, nor are we harassing the devs. We have made a polite request and expect nothing more than our cause to be heard.

Progress is not achieved by passively waiting for something to happen without our involvement.

I was tempted to include another poll in the topic that would ask MTR/ADH acess to console commands in order to access noclip/godmode or what ever they  used to film those gameplay footage in the early days of developement but i figured it was too much to ask. so i kept it simple.

Never thought i would inspire an FPS player to write a poem... where's my box of tissues.

If the devs can kick out a duct-taped-together server package to be used on the short term (maybe hardcode it to stop working after XX/XX/XXXX), great! Just be aware that private servers are already on their minds.

I'll be honest Elix. I know you're trying to be helpful, but you come across as preachy and somewhat condescending.
The manner in which you've stated your position and worded your post, it almost seems as if you didn't bother to look at why we want private servers in this case, and instead just had a knee-jerk "these guys haven't been paying attention" reaction.

It's not as if people posting in this thread are random newcomers, but rather established members of this community. We are aware that there's private servers in the works. But what we're hoping for is some private servers in the short term to help facilitate this community run event. Considering we want to run the tourny with small format teams, (4v4, 5v5) having private servers would help keep randoms from joining the matches and fuzzy bunny up team balance.

I don't want to have a petty argument in this thread( too late i guess ).
I just want to promote the event and possibly get some support from ADH/MTR.

I haven't voted in the poll because I have no stake in these tournaments, but I'm also not opposed to them, or server software being cooked up for them. Nothing wrong with it.

And AJK, I read the thread. I know what it's for. I suppose I could have worded my post a bit better to reflect the context, such as "maybe they can accelerate that process for this". I'm sorry if I came off like a fuzzyhead.

It is of my opinion that the teams should be locked as well so the teams don't get all jumbled, and two to four servers would work perfectly for this seance there is no tournament lobby or anything. A specific tournament UI would be a handy feature in the future to help make this easy

well you can always fill the extra spaces with filler people, who will just sit in one designated area, trying to break the world record for mech pyramids.

They do it for one group and they have to do it for all; makes more sense to to remain neutral for the time being.
