Hawken is free-to-play. This means that you will not be charged money to "buy" a copy of the game to play. When Open Beta ends you can continue playing without paying anything at all.

Yes. The reward is unique camo (one for alpha, one for closed beta; alpha testers who participated in closed beta will receive both). However, the reward is on hold until Hawken gets an account-wide inventory system. Right now, inventory is per-mech, and that's why everyone who purchased a Vanguard Initiative bundle and got the Cupcake mech can't put their Vanguard camo on any mech other than Cupcake right now. This is on the devs' to-do list.

thats why the steam workshop  system and steam inventory would fit this game more than perfectly!

Err... I don't believe that that's the right solution, here. At least not right now. If Hawken goes on Steam when it goes into full public release (out of beta), it would have to be all-or-nothing to integrate with Steam inventory. They would have to make everyone use Steam to play Hawken if they wanted to use Steam's inventory, and Valve takes a cut of transactions (I don't know what Valve's contracts are, but the traditional cut is 30%) and that means less money for Hawken. Not all games need Steam. Minecraft is doing just fine without it.

Other games like Lord of the Rings Online (also F2P) are available on Steam, but their real-money-points store is internal. You can access it and play LOTRO without using Steam.

Hi Folks,

i just wanted to thank Meteor for this awesome game. I thought that it won't run on the toaster I call a PC. But it runs very smooth on medium setup. Even though I can't enjoy the awesome graphics, I saw in high resolution vids on Youtube, I have to say that I've rarely seen such an intense gameplay. Just awesome!!!

Just a few questions:

- The game looks pretty finalized to me. Will there be a further roleback before the game will be officially released or is this Open Beta already something like a soft release or an early access_ It should be possible since it is f2p.

- For when is the final release scheduled_

There will be no more resets going forward. Mech progress and inventory and such going forward is "live".

No announcements have been made as to when Hawken will be leaving Open Beta and hitting a 1.0 release. Open Beta just began a week ago. If there is any downtime between Open Beta and full release, I expect it'll be a day at the most unless something goes very badly.
