No problem. I've done a lot of betas and alphas in my day, so knowing what runs what comes with experience. Well that and I'm a computer scientist... so I kind of learned my away around a 'puter

I've got the following (important) items installed currently:
PSU: 750W
http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817815002
GPU
http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814102841
CPU
http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819103675

I just ordered another GPU as my current one is getting old.
http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814127699

Can my power supply support running BOTH gpus at once_ Or should I just swap out the old one_ I'd love to run 2 monitors... 1 off of my current gpu for extra stuff (excel sheets, forums, fuzzy bunny, etc), and 1 on my new gpu for hawken :D

A bug with UDK and windows XP has been identified. If you are experiencing problems due to smoke in game it's because of a UDK memory leak. It is recommended to play on vista or 7. XP might work, but it could also have framerate or stability issues due to this problem. 64 bit XP is not affected.

I'm curious if being able to run tribes ascend on my machine means it should be able to handle hawken. They both use similar technologies and tribes only hit open beta a few months ago. Does anyone know if the statement in the opening post in this thread about running tribes as a benchmark is still true_ If it is, my laptop should be able to handle hawken, albeit on lowest settings.

Tribes and HAWKEN use the same engine.

Is that a yes_

I suppose I'm wondering if they have similar minimum system requirements.

Hello, just had a couple questions about whether I would be able to run this or not, I'm not that computer savvy so I'm not good at figuring out what specs/pieces correspond to what when comparing other brands and stuff.

Processor: 3rd Gen INtel Core i7-3612QM, 6MB cache, up ot 3.1 GHz

RAM stuff: 8GB, DDR3, 2 DIMM

Graphics Card: Intel 174 HD Graphics 4000

Harddrive: 1TB 5400 RPM SATA Harddrive

Okay, I think that's the basic stufff I need (processor, RAM stuff, Graphics card and harddrive).  Would I be able to run this on this system_

Any other specs I should post to be sure_

Hmm, integrated graphics card..... I don't think that's sufficient...

Curses upon my constant technological inferiority! This is the first time I've had something even close to gaming quality so I just got my hopes up it seems.  And this looked really cool too...

Well, thanks for the response.

This is a question for skatcat31...Any comments on the physx implementation in Hawken_  The reason why I ask is that I don't have an Nvidia card in my system (at the moment - have an 8800 GTS 512 in the closet) and would like to max the game (60+ fps @ 1080p with "ultra" settings).  I'm playing Borderlands 2 and the physx implementation is pretty intense at certain points in the game.  I have seen drops down to 35 fps with the physx set to "medium" (multiple physx effects with 7-8 enemies on the screen in CO-OP).  From my observations in Borderlands 2 it's the fluid/blood physx effects that really put the strain on my CPU.  From what I've seen on the Hawken videos on You Tube, I don't think there are any of these type of fluid effects (which would be a good thing).

Will I be able to max out Hawken at 1080p w/physx set to the highest setting with my current rig_  Here are my specs..

3770K @ 4.4 GHz
Asus P8Z77-v pro
16 GB 2133 MHz ram
XFX 7970 DD (can easily O/C to 1100/1575)
Intel 520 SSD 240GB + 3TB 7200 rpm drive
XFX 1000w P/S

@ Playing this on rig that can run tribes: Tribes actually uses the newer version of this engine, but yes if you can run Tribes you can run this.
@biggus75: Physx is a separate set of code that needs to be introduced into the engine for physx to be present. As such there hasn't been a physx branding that I've noticed at all. Your machine is going to do just fine at 1080p on ultra.

Thanks for the quick response skatcat.  Like many other Radeon owners I don't want to be held back from the game in it's full glory (including physx) by not having an Nvidia product in my system.  I have nothing against Nvidia, in fact I was running SLI 8800 GTS 512 cards and they've been great, but when it came time to upgrade I thought that AMD had the better product (hardware wise - 3GB vs 2GB, 384 bit vs 256 bit memory, better compute power, higher transistor count, better O/C scaling).  Software wise I've been running well with Catalyst 12.7 beta and things will only continue to get better as drivers mature.  I'm a believer that Nvidia could have put out a better product (GTX 670/680) but based on where AMD was in their technology/drivers, released a product that was "slightly faster" on launch.  I'll stop ranting...and hope that Adhesive implements physx that can run well on high end CPU's.  I'm not looking to start a war with Nvidia owners, but I guess that I'm a little upset that Nvidia changed it's mind on releasing the GK110 GPU.  Who know's maybe I'll switch back to an Nvidia card next year if they ever do release that beast of a card I was expecting this year.

Final comment, Unreal Engine games on my 7970 are unbelievably fast.  Both Tribes Ascend and Blacklight Retribution run exceptionally well (minimum 70fps on 1080P (fully maxed out) and usually in the 100+ fps).

Nvidia cards are super-expensive, but worth it.

@Ganelon - I got an expectionally good deal on my XFX 7970 DD, paid $355 + tax (in Canada) two months ago.  The lowest price I could find on a GTX 670/680 was ~$400/490 during the same time period.  If the GTX680 was selling for ~same price I probably would've went with that card instead.  Now that I'm a Radeon user, I just hope we don't see a "Borderlands 2" trend continue with the adaptation of physx geared games that work best on an Nvidia GPU vs CPU.  I could go the hybrid physx but unfortunately with my current configuration I could only put a second card in the PCIE 2.0 4x slot.

On a more positive note I've read there's apparently a new physx 3.0 SDK that supports "multi-threading" on CPU (which would speed up things for non-Nvidia users).  I believe the purpose of physx 3.0 is to adapt the technology into the next gen of consoles.  We'll have to wait and see what happens in 2013.

PhysX won't be in consoles, would make the consoles too expensive for the kiddies to buy.
