Dash, I agree you shouldn't have to, however, safe mode does not load a bunch of other applications. So if it by chance runs in safe mode, then you have now figured out that one of your running applications is stopping it. The harder part would be to figure out which one, which I said in an earlier post of force quitting each one, one by one, and testing.
I mean, I would go through all of that trouble, but thats just because thats the kind of person I am. You are free to do what you want.

And, after SS396's suggestion, please try mine. In normal mode, rename HawkenLauncher.exe to iexplore.exe and see if it runs. If it does, then it's a virus or some other program is blocking that exe. (renaming is temporary though)
