Hello creative pilots!

Here's the latest line-up of creative challenges.

WeLoveFine HAWKEN T-Shirt Design
- Challenge Type: Art Design  
-Mission: Create a design that can be printed on a T-Shirt
-Submissions: Must be a WeLoveFine registrant. http://hawkenme.ch/197g899
-Prizes: Toshiba Qosmio laptop and up to $1,500 cash.
-Bragging Rights: Every week WeLoveFine does a raffle for random schwag, so your design will be featured on Tumblr, Twitter, and Facebook before the contest closes. Also, the winners will be announced during the HAWKEN panel at PAX Prime the weekend of 8/30!

Oh god I so want to do this but I got to make Cityscene and a High poly car for my Exam 3D :"( I won't have time.. But still want the answers to all this! (maybe I can do the walking Tank)

You have until November for one of those contests, so it's a great time to learn 3d modeling. I'm sure you can find free tutorials online too.

You have until November for one of those contests, so it's a great time to learn 3d modeling. I'm sure you can find free tutorials online too.

Just read the rules for the November 5th contest and I swear I saw an allowance for 2D computer generated painting applications! I actually can participate now 'Cept learning 3D modeling ain't a bad thing, but maybe once I've got something rolling.

Found some answers! The art can be done in any program, there are no rules or stipulations on 3D, 2D so it could even be pen and ink – competition is open to anyone who enters regardless of location. Also, there will be a voting process put on 3D Artist Facebook.  https://www.facebook...DArtistMagazine

I've never had much interest in learning 3D computer modeling, since I personally find the art form to be restricting.  I would love to participate in some of this stuff, but as an artist, I prefer 2-dimensional mediums and designs.  It's too bad we don't have a "director" mode in Hawken that would allow us to arrange the existing 3D assets to use as reference pieces in sketches.

I also think it's a little bit disappointing that the Hawken mechs' movements appear to be so inflexible, since it robs us of the ability to imply motion rather than demonstrating it.  For instance, with a car's shocks, you can imply a sudden acceleration by showing the frame sitting at an angle away from the direction of acceleration.  The mechs in Hawken don't seem to have any such opportunity, and I find it difficult to make the mechs themselves express movement without being explicit.  It's a minor gripe, I know...

I'll just have to settle for playing the game, which is a more than adequate consolation prize.

That's some interesting insight you have there. I'll be sure to pass this along just in case there is something we can do later down the road, creatively.
