Linguistics is the science of language. I know that because I'm a prick!

I'd say it's more of an interesting battle between informal fallacies and emotional investment.

And language is a set of consensus that permits exchange and argumentation of thesis. Same "logos" ethymology, I guess.

Then you compare me with a mouse,  and claim that i cant win.
That is what we call a hypocrite.

You are right, English is not my native language and it is kinda hard to express my thoughts correct, but i will deal with it.
I really doubt that my English level has something to do with my logic.

See now I didnt see any problem with your you wrote. I could understand everything you were trying to say. To be honest I have seen worse English from English natives. I stopped posting in this thread because it turned into a verbal altercation and I didnt want any part of it. I just wanted to say I dont find anything wrong with your english and you speak it well.

I will now return to the forum darkness.

If there will be a "KING of the arrogant forum warriors" selection, I will vote for you.
You do understand that continuing to say the same fuzzy bunny over and over again brings the conversation nowhere right_ You mention egos, but you were the first to bring into question the skill/player experience of everyone in HAB

View PostHrono, on July 31 2013 - 01:09 AM, said:

I already can imagine what kind of test you were making if you even don't agree with the automatic weapon info.
You mean empirical testing involving checking and double checking values as they stand within the game_

No i'm just confirming how adequate and sane is Beeman and the CORE.
Your response to Odin was not limited to Odin, so I called you out on it. You then DENIED that you had said anything about the ENTIRETY of the HAB group, and you and hotdog both LIED about previous statements
Can we stop bullshitting yet_

View PostHrono, on July 31 2013 - 01:09 AM, said:

Why you exaggerate_ Damn i guess its really hard to see things from your's ego altitude, ill try one more time:
When you say that 80% of HAB are forum warriors and question their experience in the game at all, most/all is not an exaggeration. Try making less obviously ridiculous statements next time instead

Quote

Glad to hear that a few had experience in testing, and I hope when you say "testing since alpha"  you mean testing since alpha not playing since alpha.

This does not actually contradict your previous sweeping statements. A few could be anywhere from 1% to 20%. You have still been making baseless assertions both concerning the backgrounds of most of the HAB members (without even knowing who is involved) and the reasons why they were chosen

View PostHrono, on July 31 2013 - 01:09 AM, said:

I guess you have your own reality.
If your opinion is that everyone who posts on the forums is unable to kill you in a fair fight in game, and I can point out a number of people who have utterly destroyed you in fair fights, then calling your statement an opinion doesn't do anything. In this case, you've made statements regarding the experience of HAB participants, the selection process, and a number of other things that you honestly can't back up. There's no proof behind anything you've sad whatsoever, and blatant proof to the contrary. Stating that you were just expressing an opinion is ignorant and ineffectual

Just because all of them are GAMES it doesn't mean  that their DEVELOPMENT processes fit to each other.
Again, if you can't understand why other development processes following much the same pattern Hawken has (and several of my given examples are also shooters) in regards to this program are comparable, then there's no point in discussing HAB with you.

View PostHrono, on July 31 2013 - 01:09 AM, said:

So how many of you have testing experience_ And what do you understand by game testing_
I'm just curious .
I cannot speak for absolutely everyone in HAB, nor, again, do I know exactly the criteria that ADH utilizes. However, that's the difference between our arguments. I argue based on what I know to be true, you instead argue based on how emotionally invested you become in something and make blatantly incorrect statements/statements you can't possibly back up
The onus ultimately is on you to bring backing to your statements, or they're just mindless trash talk

Alright everyone calm down! I just want to say that the selection process for HAB was kinda goofy as i know people who have multiple accounts and those accounts received invites. Even though those same accounts are barely months old and have virtually zero forum association. So i wouldn't be surprised if they just pulled names out of a hat. Im actually surprised i was invited cause the most constructive thing ive done on the forums was make a poll about the SS back in December or god even knows. I have literally just played the game like you all have. I didnt purchase any of the vanguard stuff too. I played in alpha but im 100% positive other people who were didn't get invited. So again i bet they threw darts at a wall of names.

If you guys want to talk about picking favorites why does no one mention the cockpit show_ They get free codes to give out and even received free clothing. Other players even mentioned having free knowledge from the devs of what was to come in HAB before it even began. I wont drop names as to not get anyone in trouble but thats the case. I cant even get stats of who has the most points in what mech but other players are treated as special and receive free swag and and free codes. That is true favoritism.

With that said the next patch will introduce ALOT of features people have been asking for FOREVER. Not just friend/clan support.  Im dead serious you guys WILL LOVE IT. SERIOUSLY GUYS. SERIOUSLY.

Good point.

Offering up private servers to a select few within the community, affording some with information that would otherwise be withheld, allowing certain people access to in-development content... Favouritism like this certainly doesn't do much for the notion of an even playing field when most are handicapped by omission.

Having said this, I'm open to having my mind changed. Favouritism might actually make a lot of sense here, but it seems to me that group loyalty is only good when the group is good...

When was the last time you put in the time and effort of doing a weekly podcast show_
How often have you organized interviews with the devs_
How much money have you spent to make regular giveaways possible_
How often do you go out of your way to try and talk directly to the devs or develop relationships with them_
How much time do you spent testing specific mechanics and documenting data_

It's less about favoritism and more about the devs showing appreciation for those who demonstrate a dedication to the game beyond what is normal.

Hm.

I was kinda hoping to walk away from the game and forums for a few weeks and come back in the wake of the next update, everyone less concerned about HAB and 'forum warriors' and bigotry and just happy to see all the new content. But no, still all of this back-and-forth.

Not saying you guys aren't allowed to share your points and debate a little but it's disgruntling (to say the least) seeing still quite a bit of criticism and assumptions of the upcoming patch being a total letdown. I don't think some of you realize just how much pressure you're putting on Adhesive, and its even more crazy seeing these walls and walls of text in a single post. Can't we just wait and see what we get_

Because people can "share" points and "debate", well, that and expectations are kinda high for this upcoming patch.  The whole HAB thing doesn't help much, but I'm guessing another round of "closed beta" was needed, I personally don't care, but I'm thinking there are people who feel left out... while others should've kept quiet about being in it.. throw it all together and **!!BAM!!** you get drama.

Part of the problem is that for a lot of people, the contingency of this patch may be a deciding factor in weather to stay or abandon ship and I think ADH knows it.  It's sad but just the state of things

Yeah, I'm basically in THAT camp right now.  And really, it started with their terrible servers early this year (lag/reliability issues) that has affected ONLY Hawken for me.  I think the balance is as broken as it can be as well as some core game mechanics, but overall, I was able to mostly overlook all that since Hawken isn't a retail AAA title and frankly it was mostly still fun and looked awesome... but add in the way the servers have been handled, as well as a few past game patches and I've basically had it with Hawken.. bugs and all.

But, I'm just one gamer, if this next patch is a dud and I'm gone, no one will really notice, and there probably aren't enough people like me to make that huge of an impact on the player base in the long run.

Odin, come on. This is just a patch to an already great game by an indie developer. I'd still be playing alpha. Or closed beta. I can't think of another game that has me so enraptured. This patch isn't a make it or break it. This patch is an 'improve it' - that which is already great. It's up to you and the rest of the HAB to advise appropriately.

Anything more I can do to support Hawken, let me know.

And yeah, AJK, I have a problem with you. But lets settle it on the battelfield. :) No hard feelings.

Beeman, you are a voice of reason, and I know it is hard, but control your condescension. Pretty much everyone respects you here. Relay the snipes and keep it to Hawken if you can.
