I have an answer for you. IF YOU'VE ALREADY LEVELED ALL THOSE MECHS TO LEVEL 25 THEN YOU PROBABLY WON'T RECEIVE NEW MECHS THROUGH LEVELING UP BECAUSE THE NEW MECHS ARE UNLOCKED THROUGH THE NEW LEVELING SYSTEM WHICH YOU'LL HAVE ALREADY COMPLETED BECAUSE YOU'VE ALREADY LEVELED UP ALL THOSE MECHS.
Thats not what Zamboni wrote in the migration FAQ thread:

Wanted to add a few follow up answers to some of the questions asked here:
Q: How will my current items be migrated into the new item system_
- A: Pilots' current items will be transferred and maintained in a way that does not cause the pilot to lose any flexibility in customization.
- A: We've adjusted our prices on a number of things, and some previously free unlocks will now have a cost associated to them. However, there are a number of new free unlocks and bonuses being implemented that will allow this change to work in favor of the pilot.
- A: All current internals will be removed including the Rookie internals.
- A: HC compensation will account for internals purchased with MC.
- A: Yes. We want to make sure veteran pilots receive the same progression bonuses a brand new player would. We are considering implementing a system in the future that will give pilots more flexibility in what they want to do with these duplicate mechs.
- A: Yes. Both normal XP and overflow XP will contribute to the overall XP pool that will be used in determining your Pilot Level.

Actually, if your mech was max level in Live it will be Rank 5 after the update without you having to do anything.
You will however still receive the corresponding mech unlock.

I guess we can't have nice things because of the likely crude art. :I

Hold on. Are you saying that those of us that have maxed all the mechs will automatically gain a duplicate of each mech (besides the recruit of course) after the update_ Up until now I thought these extra mechs would have nothing to do with me. But if this is the case I'm now very curious to see what kind of solution will be cooked up.

Nifty idea, but it could lead to potentially offensive material on designs, like people putting designs of genitalia on their mechs or a very racist message or picture. Nice feature to have, but it's too easily abused (aforementioned reason) and too hard to manage (imagine 200 players submitting 5 designs to be approved. That's 1000 designs to approve, and that's only 200 players in a growing player base) to be viable, honestly.
Sorry

What about community voted designs then_ Heck, just let them put their own designs in. That's what a player reporting system is for. Really, there's no reason not to have some player decal design as long as there's some self regulation in place. I mean, if the players can name themselves and/or their mechs whatever they want then why can't they make it look however they want as well_

I'd rather not see user created designs in Hawken. I think these new Chassis designs are going to be amazing. The reason I'm all for these Chassis designs and NOT user created designs is simple. I think user submited designs would break my immersion into the world of Hawken. Any designs the artists at ADH whip up are going to blend well into the themes, and art design of the Hawken universe because they have a vision of what belongs in the Hawken world. Allowing user created designs means we could be playing matches and end up seeing bronies with pink ponies plastered all over their mechs and ,while maybe not offensive, other visually repulsive designs. Lets keep customization within the lore of the Hawken universe.

APB anyone_ What a cesspool that was at some points. There are good points being made on both sides in this discussion. I think with regulation and artist polishing it might not be immersion-breaking. It is a tricksy beast.

Since the vanguard mech was already in the game that doesn't really count as a reveal. Not to mention it only shows the exclusive cupcake chassis. This is what the new vanguard will look like.

That's actually both.
It's the new mech AND it has all the Elite progression parts equipped.
