That does make sense (lol thank you physics).  Come to think of it, if you were on a planet with a big amount of gravity, your overall height would be shortened as humans adapt to the large change in gravity to compensate to have better balance.  How far away is Fennon to Illal_

Hey guys,

Some information I think you may find useful:

According to lore the Giga-Structure initially covers 16.48% of Illal's surface area, or approximately 4000 Square Miles. Thus we can infer that the total surface area of Illal is 24,271.85 Square Miles.

For reference Earth is approximately 197,000,000 Square Miles. Hope this helps!

That would make Illal a lot smaller than Earth, unless that is just land mass and not Ocean.

Fennon orbits Illal at a distance of 453,598 km, according to my Universe Sandbox simulation.

Is it just me or does Illal have a very... upside down look to the continent_

The density of a planet is not always a constant. Gravity is not determined by size but density.

because bow ties are cool

Well I made the mass to be 1.08 Earths, so it would be more like home, gravitationally wise.

Edited.

looking good, i thought the cities were supposed to occupy most of illal

I decided to take another look at the cities and I think they are a bit smaller than they should be as Odin pointed out.

So I have done some alterations to the texture map, the bump map and the illuminations map.

I've extended Prosk and Sentium. They are now about twice the size than they were before.

I really gotta wonder what the gravity is on Illal, here on Earth it's 9.8 m/s....  Since Illal is slightly larger than Earth, I wonder what the gravity would be_  (Any help here fellow physics people_)

Illal is actually quite small compared to Earth ;) However, in comparison of SandSpider's brilliant work I'd venture to say gravity would be relatively equal given the sizes of both planets.

Oh yeah!  You did post something here on this very thread earlier about the surface area of Illal being much smaller than Earth.

Let me explain what I have done.

The sixth planet in the Kepler 11 system is a gas giant around the size of Neptune. It's about four times bigger than Earth. So I tried to make a planet the same size, but like Earth. The only problem with that, is that the gravity would be way to high.

So I split the planet in two and created an Earth size planet with a large moon. Combined, these are still a lot smaller in size and mass than the real sixth planet, but it was the only way I could think of to keep it as close to the real system as possible.

There was another idea that I had and that was to make Illal it's self, a moon orbiting a gas giant. However, none of the skybox's in the game show anything like that, so I went with the first idea.

My version of Illal has a mass of 1.8 Earth's, so the gravity is 1.8 of Earth.  I've changed this bit, see below.

I actually have a problem with the area that the virus is supposed to cover according to lore. 4000 sq miles is smaller than the island of Jamaica, which doesn't really sound all that threatening.  But then if the surface area of Illal is just  24,271.85 Square Miles, then that would make the planet smaller than our moon.

This doesn't actually make any sense.

The purpose of this post is to show people the three most important places on Illal. Prosk, Sentium and Crion.

It will also show how the Hawken virus has spread across the planet and left the Giga Structure behind.

The first illustration shows the largest of the three mega cities, Prosk.

At the bottom left of the planet, you can see the encroaching giga structure as the virus gradually moves into the Bazaar, Uptown and Prosk maps.

Posted Image

The second illustration show the second biggest mega city Sentium. So far, Sentium is virus free.

Posted Image

The next Illustration shows the huge man made island that was the home of Crion Solutions. The scar left by the blast from the Crion Incident can still be seen. The explosion was massive but non nuclear. It was the cause of the virus that is now consuming the planet.

Posted Image

This last illustration shows how far the virus has spread. At the edge, middle left, you can see Crion island. On the far right, you can see the coastal area of Prosk.

The virus covers roughly one third of the surface area of the planet.
