Couldn't they do something like LoL, where the rank is artificially inflated for parties/lowered for single queues_ You could weight pilot rank heavier than Mech mastery (as stated above) and then take a geometric mean_ That way you can have large parties and single players roll together without removing a lot of the party functionality.
Hell, you could even arbitrarily set the weights to "good" starting values and let the system adjust itself. Just look over the K/D and Base Armor values for each team and maybe player stats, then generate new weights for each day based off the total of how far each match deviates from "ideal".

if you run a repair charge on a smaller mech, and are currently running an advanced armor fusor, trade it for a repair kit. makes the mk3 repair charge heal like 300 something.
I've also taken to running a replenisher and repair kit on my infiltrator. replenisher i find is pretty effective because of the nature of the infiltrator's ability means you won't be wasting its functionality while your ability is active, opposed to something like a berserker where if you get 3 kills during skill activation none of them count (i think).
on average it shaves around 9-12 seconds off of everything, and gives me an excuse to use my items more. still experimenting with mk 1 or mk 3 healing charge, the mk3 is clearly superior but the mk1 would allow me to carry both a shield and an emp. alternatively i could keep the two combo, but introduce the recharge time device as well by using a mk2 charge for a difference of 100 hp

with adv repair kit mk2 repair charge heals 238(170), and mk3 heals 315(225), a difference of 77, opposed to the 55 hp difference without an adv repair kit, however with this configuration a mk2 repair kit is superior to a mk3 without an advanced repair kit. with an item regenerator, mk2 repair charge, and shield, I'll always be able to access that mk2 repair charge 6 seconds sooner than the mk3.
there's also the issue of wastage from the mk3 with this setup with a small hitpoint pool, making the mk2 more efficient. however when you need that extra 77 hitpoints, you really need it.
i think all in all i will go with the mark 2, because i can use it quicker, which means in an emergency its more likely to be there. this also has the added benefit of making my shield available sooner as well.
on my berserker however, I'll probably be running advanced repair kit, fuel converter, and basic extractor, unsure on the items.

Now don't get me wrong, armor fusors needed nerf, but nothing this heavy! I mean 20(TWENTY!) seconds regen_! That's twice slower in addition to base HP regen! It's just pointless to take one now, since it's just too long.
Boost speed nerf is a welcomed one, but removing it completely_! Oh come on! Now three more internals are useless.
And party system_! Who's bright idea was it to nerf it down to fraggin THREE players_! What's the point in it now_! Oh don't get me wrong, a party of twelve for team based math is bad news, but the hell are we supposed to set up a permadeath VS premade match, with three party members limit now_! GAH! WHY THREE_! Why not six_!
Oh, and there's no switch sides button, still, how cute... And how come Repair Charge got left out_! That thing is useless, even with 40% Internal, buff the damn thing.
And Vulcan_! While it does decent damage, ridiculous spin up time is still there, remove that silly thing, already!

The age of Repair Kit and Extractor BEGINS! well at the very least, I now will even not run an armor fusor on smaller mechs.
if you run a repair charge on a smaller mech, and are currently running an advanced armor fusor, trade it for a repair kit so just get rid of the Armor Fusor all together & Hopefully the Recticle is like it was before Ascension came out way more useable....

i like it, although i would prefer party vs party only. Mixing parties with PUGs is a horrible idea and works horribly wrong. At least this way the party advantage is limited in a game of 12. It's not a great solution, but it is certainly better than what we currently have - its a good hotfix for now.

You may have missed the memo.. but they are not focusing on competitive play until their game has 2 things
1) a big enough audience
2) is enjoyable to play

This is a hotfix until they can fully flesh out the party system. In a nutshell this is them realizing it is broken and doing something to keep it broken but not as badly broken. Aka.. hotfix or temp fix until they can actually make it work. Consider this the same thing they did to the stat tree in closed beta 2.
