Haha... agreed. As I'm sure you can imagine, it is especially frustrating with a controller - while the added directional movment is excellent it is difficult to tell when you have broken the threshold of a diagonal/back movement and it becomes a shift+S. Has certainly resulted in a death or two.

I hate 180 turn

the only time I use it is in the first 30 seconds of the match to have fun with all the other dorks spamming buttons waiting for the shields to lower

I gave up making this request after CB2 (I think). Seems to be an item so low on their list as to be non-existent.

I use the 180 turn, but honestly most often I hit Shift-S by mistake when the fighting grows fierce.
I'd like to be able to rebind the shift S to the 'Caplocks' key and have shift-S and S do the same thing.
It's nice to see expert players share the same frustration.

Maybe have an internal that grants the ability to backboost.

I've been playing around with the HawkenInput.ini file and been able to bind the items to different keys. I'm @work right now, will take a look at it when i'm @home.

Wow, after all this time playing hawken you still have issues wth fuzzy bunny+s.

Sorry to hear that FM.

I find it quite useful at times, and rarely missclick it at all anymore.

Althought i think it would be nice to give the options for the nubs and scrubs to remove it.

Click me! I dare you.

The 180 turn is really useful IMO. The key-binding seems like it was made to simplify movement but it has gotten in the way once or twice. I can imagine the frustration with an Xbox Controller, I hate the default controller scheme to begin with.

On a keyboard it's not bad at all, I never noticed, but it's really strange not all the keybindings can be changed.

i change shift to "spacebar"

it reduces the pain, and i can play for a bit longer.

the use of the pinky really puts a pain in my left hand.

i'm sad i didn't workout my left hand as much in middle school up to high school.  i regret it badly n ow.

I rather change the Shift-S to x.  I hope when I am fighting FM that he hits it by mistake, that is the only way I can kill him.  :)

Personally, I like the 180 turn, it has its uses. But I would like to change the key binding for it from shift+s to one button press

I've done it. Disabled shift+s and mapped x to quick 180.

Search for GBA_Backward in HawkenInput.ini file and you should find lines that start with:
Bindings=(Name="S",Command="GBA_Backward" .....

Make sure this line has bIgnoreShift=True, if its missing add it like:
Bindings=(Name="S",Command="GBA_Backward",bIgnoreShift=True)

if it is set to False make it True.

Now create a copy of this line right there and replace "S" with "X" and replace Command with  "GBA_Boost | GBA_Backward". This will bind X to quick 180 without shift. Make sure there are no other lines that start with:
Bindings=(Name="X"... within the config section.

You can also bind left and right dodges like this to individual keys if you want to.

You are awesome! Now I can finally use both Shift (and a key) and double tapping! As well as anything else! Thanks a lot! :)

NO NO

the best part of shift + s

is whenever I'm like PEW PEW DIE!! and then I accidentally hit shift + s, I TOTALLY try to play it off as if I meant to do it and boost in that direction

lmao
