The only thing I would like to see from the old hawken would be the ambient sound they had back then from explosions and tunnels. Besides that I like this hawken WAY better, I didn't like the tree system because everybody would just go into the same type of trees usually speed and power. This made it where some mechs usually the A types would be OP as hell. Just think of the scout/infiltrator having a x2 speed boost after going into the tree. As the devs said along time ago, they got rid of it because balancing the mechs became a headache. How do you balance a game based around a tree, you can't (WoW) the only "balance" is down at high tier but lower tier players would complain constantly about X mech being OP. The tree system was an experiment for the devs and they saw how bad it would turn out for them when it came to balancing the matches and mech types. Just think of this Brawler having a x2 boost into defence or a pred having a x2 boost into power, yea good luck.

During Alpha, Bazaar map was the best example of it when they had a tunnel though the middle of the map.

Doing Closed beta they had the tree system and I believe acouple months after if I'm correct, hard to remember back then though, that was a awhile back.

Trees until Ascension, I think. Then the 30 units for tuning.
I was happy with that, except I wish they would have just put the units in for everyone to use regardless of level, instead of arbitrarily assigning them as they did.

Minus the tree system I wouldn't mind them going back to alpha built though, people had FPS issues back then do to the graphic cards at the time but I'm sure the cards today could handle it, I'll find a vid of what I'm talking about here...sec.

that version of the map was not actually available during public alpha testing and the effect seen in the official dev video is a post-production effect, not in the actual game.

Dang, thats the think that's lacking right now. It would actually add meaning to ranking the mech.

yep, both pilot and mech rank mean nothing to Hawken, other than adding measurement to how long a player's been playing and getting achievements (which also mean nothing in Hawken).

Those stats were mostly worthless.  Also, mechs getting stronger with level means that new players get stomped even worse.  Vertical progression is bad.
