That's pretty standard stuff for anyone who has played games with dodging mechanics before.
Should hawken be striving to be one of the games that have mechanics that are common and used in a generic way_
Furthermore i'd like to know more. How about sharing a few references.

If you're ok with having your dodge on cooldown 90% of the time, that's fine by me.
Sure, this may be slightly advantageous in certain uninterrupted long-distance situations, but I don't think it's game-breaking or even really worth worrying about at all.
Whats the amount of time you spend in combat compared to the amount of time you spend out of it getting around the map_
If the enemy is behind you all but 1 weapon provide no warning for incoming projectiles meaning having a dodge available to prevent damage is not likely to provide you with a significant advantage.
If you are attempting to escape poor positioning would you rather move in a slow and predictable way via walking or boosting or would you rather boost+dodge away in an erratic fashion as to confuse and juke your opponent out of his dps_
Obviously the tactic shown in the video is not viable if you are heading into a face to face battle with an opposing mech. However in nearly every other instance it is beneficial. Give it time and hopefully if the hawken community is skilled enough they will start abusing these shortcommings brought forth by the new implementations.

Is this like Hawkens version of "bunny hopping" I hear so much about_
Thank you for bringing this up. Its actually something that crossed my mind after posting this video.
I'm not sure of the stance of b hoping in comp CS. But if we compare this to strafe jumping from quake we can see some similarities. Obviously this was a design choice and not an unintended effect of the engine.
But, is this the king of behavior that requires skill_ Is this the kind of gameplay you would like to watch for an esport_ Do you think it adds a layor of flavour to the game_
