I spent GBP10 at launch so I could start with my favorite mech from beta, still have MC left over.

Would easily pay GBP50 for a full game with more maps, the original 9 or so mechs, and no garbage automated matchmaking system.

Unfortunately I think the devs need to sell the F2P model as part of their sales pitch for investment.

hmm. OP is on point, except, as SideStrafe posited this could be nothing more than a Rich Boy's toy, or a promo grab.
I'm around 200 hours each on my main and prime smurf, and prolly total another hundred with the 10 or so other smurfs.
i planned to "self-subscribe" support for the devs with 20-30 USD per month fair pay (and i've been doin it a Long Time), but i have everything i want where i want it, and now have MC lying around unspent. unless there is a substantial change in the bling, accessories, or game structure itself, i have no reason to spend any more.
they better get off their duffs, because the market ain't expanding here...

Not real what happened.  [ADH] did not have to put on any sales pitch for investment.  The vulture capitalist circled the company like fresh carcass on the Sahara Desert.

I've spent $50 and _incitatus gave me $50 worth of MC. That's it. I have like 800 hours in right now, so even if the game dies tomorrow, I've gotten far more than my money's worth.
